I just read how 99% of switch owners bought zelda.

I'm hungry as a vita owner for my killer app and huge hit of a game for my vita which I spent 399 dollars on same with my ps4.

I bought this product now wheres my big hitting game and its not persona 4 g i'm not into that side of gaming.

I'm waiting for my god of war ghost of sparta 2 or my final fantasy crisis core 2 or just something new.

BOTW hit 99% of switch owners wheres the vita's what did you do to us we were PSP fans we went for the vita and nothing has come from it. People don't even bring up the vita anymore.

I mean, BotW is the only game worth playing on Switch right now. Of course it will have a high attachment rate. How many people bought a Switch to play 1 2 Switch?

BotW is an actual system seller. People are buying to to play Zelda.

The PSV never really had a system seller.

I wanted to get a Vita when it first came out. It did not have anything I wanted to desperately play..I ended up avoiding it. Turns out it was the correct decision. I might get one now because I can play PS1 games on it.

@charizard1605: Do you have concrete official sales numbers to prove it didn't? Because otherwise it did. Not to mention it still has games coming for it and its still being manufactured.

So officially its still alive.

That's not how this works. We have official numbers showing us how much Wii U sold. We have no official numbers for Vita. Unless you can prove a statement you made (I never said anything about Vita outselling anything), your statement does not stand.

The many games coming from it are coming from Japan, the one territory where it did somewhat okay (and where it is also dying out, by the way, with support finally migrating wholesale to PS4 now- we're only getting residual localizations at this point).

As for discontinuation, Vita is at least reportedly discontinued in Europe, and has no retail shelf space whatsoever in North America. Sony has publicly discontinued first party support for the Vita, and declared it to be a legacy platform. You don't get more 'dead' than that.

I love my Vita, but stop making excuses for it. Sony f*cked up, hold them to account for it. Dragging in an unrelated statement and making logically unsound arguments, many of which fly in the face of self evident truths, is only making you seem unnecessarily insecure, which I am sure you are not.

So why did you buy the system if it didn't have a game you wanted on it that badly?

Really, such a high attach rate for Zelda is not a good sign for the switch. It means the system is essentially selling on the promise of that 1 game. If it were the promise of the system in general we would see a much more diverse purchasing base and thus a lower attach rate. Since BOTW was announced way back in 2013, we can't expect a steady stream of them. In fact, we'll be lucky if Switch is still alive by the time the next iteration comes out. So this all means for Switch that it is pretty much a 1 trick pony with the player base, and that 1 trick isn't likely to see a new installment for quite some time. That doesn't mean the switch is doomed, but it isn't a good sign.

@charizard1605: Eventhough they are not completely accurate VGchartz hardware info has been pretty much dead on this gen. It is doubtful they made a 2 million unit mistake. By all estimations it outsold the Wii U. Hold Sony accountable? Releasing a handheld meant to appeal to adults in the age of smartphones was destined to fail. Id rather them take their resources and put them towards the PS4. I think its a nice piece of hardware but by no means did i see it being successful.

VGChartz numbers are laughable. For the record, I do believe that with an extra year on the market, the Vita probably did outsell the Wii U in the end- but I will make no sweeping assertions to that effect without hard, concrete numbers.

And sure, there is something to be said for focusing on your core competencies- that's what Nintendo is doing with the Switch, it's what Sony is doing with the PS4. But what about the people who spent hundreds of dollars on buying a high end handheld in this age of smartphone on the back of promises Sony made that never materialized? More than anything, I think retaining customer confidence is important. With handhelds, Sony has lost that confidence forever.

@charizard1605: I bought the Vita and knew what i was getting myself into. Do i feel betrayed? Not really. They released some quality titles but ultimately it was a hard sell and i knew it. I didn't feel ripped off in the slightest though. I never owned a PSP and decided to buy a plethora of games for great prices and i got a few triple A titles as well. I still use it to this day. It was always going to be my travel console but for those who were using it as their primary game platform im sure they are upset.

Regardless it still has games that blow away anything on a smartphone.

See, I owned a PSP, so for me that wasn't an option haha. I still grew to love mine, because some of the games released on it were incredible- but I was bummed.

Agreed with your last sentence

Never played that xD

But I have played quite a few great games on Vita, just nothing that was as exclusive or unique as what PSP had on offer.

It's just that, Sony redirecting their studios is fine and all in theory... but look at ready at dawn for example: in PSP's lifetime they managed to make 3 great exclusives. In Vita's liftime they managed to make one sh1tty PS4 game.

I'm still having high hopes for ,that other great PSP dev, Bend's PS4 game, please don't dissapoint ! :P

And the amazing Dragon's Crown that was not only an incredible game but made it clear just how godly the Vita's OLED screen is. Makes the Switch's cheap screen look like washed out junk.

Toukiden

Hot Shots Golf

Mutant Blobs Attack

Add in PS1 RPG heaven and remote play for my PS4 and the Vita makes the release list for the Switch look like a joke.

Vita launched with Uncharted: Golden Abyss (system seller) and had a much better launch lineup overall compared to the Switch. Not sure what TC is going on about.

It's pretty much dead to me as a long time VITA enthusiast.

I'd still want to see Sony do a handheld but probably best sometime after the PS5 launches.
