They released my favourite controller this gen, with the Elite. In fact, SCUF have just announced their PS4 "Elite-like" controller for $200. It's tempting.

Yeah I would say so. I’ve always loved the feel and functionality of the Xbox 360 and Xbox One base controller over the other system’s controllers but then you factor in the Elite Xbox One controller and the Design Lab and it’s no contest.

I use a d-pad a lot, so I actually kind of like the dualshock more combined with the improvements from 3 to 4. The Xbox One's is better than the 360's, but it still sucks compared to the d-pad of the OG Controller S.

Yes. The controller is the only good thing that came from MS/Xbox this gen.

I would say as a body of work, Microsoft won/gets more kudos. It's really cool the variation you see w/ their controllers, and the support for those w/ special needs is just fantastic.

But if I'm comparing any one particular controller from Microsoft, then for me, the DS4 is much better than the One's controller.

I really liked the Elite controller... however if you asked me to rank the 3 consoles in order of amount of game time I have played the XBox comes in last and both sticks on my Elite have flaccid dead zones longevity isn't it's strong suit. Also right trigger squeaks when depressed. Not too great when I paid over $200 cdn. My Switch Pro and my 20th anniversary DS4 both still feel new despite countless hours of use.

I mean I guess technically they did. I own 10 Xbox One Controllers(I know I suck, I collect them though) and only 2 PS4 and 1 Switch one.

That being said, I'd gladly trade 8 of my controllers for some decent first party game support from 'em...please guys, give me ANYTHING here.

Xbox has always won the controller war if that was a thing. Its just more comfy.

The X1 controllers are the best in terms of feel, but they have terrible build quality. The bumpers often break and there is a cheap little clip in the analog sticks that is prone to breaking. I am actually surprised there has not been a class action suit over this. I have gone through about a half a dozen or so myself due to flaws. I often trade in the old ones that are fucked up. Never buy used controllers people as you will most likely be getting someone else's fucked up controller. hehe :)

Microsoft always wins the controller war every single generation. It's one of the reasons that I always prefer to buy multiplats on Xbox.

Only reason I’m voting yes is due to the superior PC support on xbox controllers.

I don't think their Xbox One controller is good quality. So I'm a little more hesitant to praise them for controllers. I really dislike the shoulder buttons. Even the Elite seems to have some issues for people in general.

Switch Pro does feel more sturdy/better quality than the Elite. It's my favorite controller right now. But I don't like playing for a long time on the Joycons because its sticks feel less analogue.

And of our Sony controllers one just doesn't work well.

So I don't know who I would give it to. I do really like the idea of being able to customize your controller through a website like MS is doing. That's pretty cool. And of course the Adaptive Controller is a great idea. I just don't know the quality of it.

Not even close for me, ds4 is still easily the best. Best feel, best build quality, best design. Not that the Ones controller is bad but man are they cheap feeling.

Sure. Nintendo 2nd. DS4 is fucking shit. Plastic feeling, left analogue stick in the wrong place, weird d-pad, a huge light on the back draining it's battery, weak fucking battery, uncomfy trigger buttons, craptastic touch controls. Horrible controller.

No, thanks. The d-pad on the regular controllers is a total joke. Don't know about the elite one. When I want to log into my Live account I have to use the d-pad to enter a pin code and it never, never, never registers the way it's supposed to. Sometimes I have to try half a dozen times because the d-pad reads one press as three or doesn't register it at all. It's infuritating and I'm surprised by the obviously low standards by people who hype that crap.

Xbox has had the best controllers in gaming since 2005. I play my PC games with Xbox pad.

When MS created the Xbox One Elite Controller, the war was already over. I must say, the Xbox Elite Controller is the best controller I ever used on my almighty PC :)

The DS4 evolved a TON. Have you held a DS3 or earlier recently? Unrecognizable. Substantially BIGGER evolution than the x1 controller from 360 IMO. I also HATE the offset analogs and the dpad on the x1 controller. However, the x1 controller is sturdier (although the ds4 is quite robust and a big improvement over its predecessors) and the rumble analog triggers are truly special.

My biggest issue with these debates is that it's so subjective, including down to the individual person's hand size and shape - and people pretend it isnt.

The war was already over at launch since even the standard Xbox One controller is much better than the PS4 controller. All of the other great controller stuff that Microsoft has done since then has just been extra gravy on top. This is one category that Sony can't even come close to competing in.

Yes it was if you like to use a controller on PC for the most parts and I only use KB/M for FPS/RTS only games, the rest is always controller for me. You really should give the Elite Controller a try if you like MS controllers that is.

Microsoft wins for controller quality, Nintendo wins for controller versatility. Wooden spoon for Sony and it's four hour battery life.

im going to give it to valve. the steam controller is an amazing bit of kit. played some tomb raider with it recently and it just made the game much easier and it was so nice to control. i can play total war games with that controller.

it does take practice. it can take some faffing around to set it up for a game (especially when the game was never designed with a controller in mind) and rumble would be nice (especially in F1 2017) but it is a stupidly flexible controller.
