If they were scared of Ucharted TR would not be the game MS would get to compete with it. I think they just lack exclusives and needed something for the holiday 2015 window.

No they need to get all the timed exclusives they can get their hands on, they are being outsold 2:1 and it isn't getting any better, they are full on damage control at the moment.

Yeah I think Forza 6 for sure, Halo 5 is also a high possibility. I think TR just makes their line up look a little better, TR didn't exactly set the world on fire in terms of sales. With none of these games having a release date its difficult to predict whats actually going to be available in 2015. But MS felt they had to get TR time exclusivity, even though the game was already on their console.

Kind of hard to believe Microsoft is "scared" of Uncharted when they have Halo 5 releasing around the same time. Uncharted hasn't even sold as much as Gears has much less. I personally think that the money paid for timed exclusivity of Tomb Raider could of been put to much better use, but I believe they're using this just as an "addition" to their lineup. Microsoft will most likely be releasing at least 3 out of Forza 6, Quantum Break, Halo 5 and Fable Legends around the Holiday period and in addition to that Tomb Raider is only on XB1 during this window as well. So they have a great line up of exclusives as well as a game similar to Uncharted vs just uncharted 4. That could make XB1 appealing I some buyers on the fence.

@manny280: MS should really be scared of any exclusive Sony throw out there. They are like 5 million consoles behind within less than a year of launch and the gap is only getting bigger and bigger. Anything to incentive PS4 purchases is a no-no especially Uncharted.

You can bet Sony would do the same to try and compete with Halo, because they sure as hell can't produce anything that comes close in their first party dev studios LOL.

@Legend002: they should be scared of not selling as much as Sony that's true, but I think that based on recent comments by Phil Spencer that they're fine with doing well within their own space without outselling the PS4. Uncharted 4 will be a great game, but ultimately Halo 5 is a bigger pull than Uncharted 4 will be during the holidays that's undeniable so there's little reason for anyone to be scared. You're making it sound as if Microsoft doesn't expect Sony to release exclusives. That's odd. Regardless even if Uncharted 4 wasn't coming next year, the XB1 would still get outsold by the PS4 next year, Uncharted has little to do with the current situation. All Microsoft can do is make their lineup as appealing as possible and that is the point of them buying the TR timed exclusivity even though I disagree with this tactic. They're not doing it because they're scared of a single game.

Well money or no money, the PS4 is the console of choice for many devs this gen.

Why would you be sacred of Uncharted when you have arguably a better exclusives franchise.

It's sure a lot cheaper that starting a new studio and a new game from scratch. Tomb Raider has always been better way than Uncharted, why do you think so many people were pissed to think they might not be getting it on the only console. Has there been a announcement yet or are people just guessing, TR still might not come to the PS4, might be just PC.

MS moneyhatted Tomb Raider for two reasons:

1) Tomb Raider is a B-tier franchise that is still quite popular for some reason, so they picked it up cheap.

2) They have very little else to reveal for 2015.

Not really, this is what Microsoft has been doing for a long time. Microsoft has a terrible first party so all they can do is stop Playstation players from playing certain games at least for a certain amount of time by bribing third party developers.

and also TR will never be as good as Uncharted games (which all of them sell over 6 million+ )and Microsoft own games are in tough spot since Playstation exclusives are the games that end up with higher scores and awards with incredible games like TLOU or uncharted 2/3 and they have no games like them or like New ips like Bloodborne etc

What? You mean the game Uncharted modeled itself after has never been as good? Are you serious? I'd take Tomb Raider from the PS1 days over any of those average Uncharted games. The only thing Uncharted has over TR is it's graphics which looked like it just finished raining oil the entire game.

Pretty obvious they did. They get an Uncharted like game for next year's Christmas all to themselves.

Mainly because they have ZEEEEEEEEEEEEERO talented developers so they buy dlc's and some games because they can't build em fo shit.

As a loyal tomb raider fan I say yes Microsoft scare of uncharted 4 and the reason they paid time exclusive for Rise of Tomb Raider for holiday 2015 is because they know full well that Rise of Tomb Raider will sale more on PS3,PS4,PC than xbox 360 ad xbox one

I agree that TR is better but to say that UC is not even good? You are insane. TR is better because of the overall gameplay and that's it. Story, voice acting, music, graphic and even multiplayer all goes to UC. Pretty much everything but the gameplay goes to UC. If Naughty Dog adopt some of the gameplay mechanics from TLoU to UC4 then TR2 won't have a leg to stand on comparing.

Of course they did.. Uncharted 4 will sell like hotcakes to a exclusive starved Cow faction. It might even sway some former PS3 owners to finally take the plunge. This is a counter move to that. I.e.. keep the current user base from possibly jumping ship.
