Did MS buy new studios for Xbox/Windows or multiplat sales?

Let’s face it, the real money in gaming is software sales (and the dribbles of transactions within each title). I just looked up something called The Outer Worlds and noticed it’s a recently purchased MS studio (Obsidian) and that the game is also launching on ps4. While the game was obviously in development long before MS’s acquisition, I can’t help but think the ps4’s almost 100 million user base comes to mind for not cancelling its port. Phil has also said he’d like to see Gears on the ps4. Can you blame him with that install base the ps4 has? As we know, the real money is in software - not hardware.

They have to give the PS4 version since it was shown before the buy out.

You remember Tomb Raider and the timed axclusive incident. imagine the PS4 version being canceled now.

Yep. Tomb raider timed exclusive news was so bad even microsoft and Square had to break silence on exclusive deal and make sure its coming to other platform and the game itself only sold around 1m in its first month. Glad it rebounded and sold well after positive critical review and releasing on other platforms.

The most upvoted hate comment on the tomb raider blog when news dropped was around 20-30k upvotes on like 12hours, really amazing.
