The lack of Sony fps is making them look really weak this gen. Now MS has Doom, Wolfenstein and Halo and Sony has absolutely nothing. I used to like the company back in the Resistance and Warhawk days but now they disgust me.

Did Resistance and Killzone sell that well? Maybe Sony have their current comfort zone, i.e. third-person narrative-driven games, for a reason.
That said, I'm sure if one of their studios think they have something compelling to offer the FPS market, we'll see a new Sony FPS game. If it sells, then it sells.
Warhawk is third person.
Never said it wasn't. I just said I used to like Sony in those days.
Sony has never in PlayStation's entire history made a better FPS, or Multiplayer game than even the WORST Halo game.
Killzone 2's metacritic scores were only as high as they were because of the games graphics. The gameplay was awful.
Resistance 1 and 2's MC scores were only as high as they were because PS3 had nothing of value in its first 2-3 years, and PS3 exclusives were reviewed on a curve back then.
Sony made some good FPS Killzone 2&3 and shadow fall were Ok, resistance was Ok, I don’t think there is any point making FPS games anymore since the most popular ones are free to play and they make more than any game on the market that is single player, i would put my resources somewhere else even Halo is a dying franchise and they are trying to get in the free to play market
Resistance 2 was one of their best offerings. Full single player campaign, separate 8 player co-op campaign, 60 player competitive PVP.

lol your post in a nutshell..
"Sony never made a good FPS except for when they did but it doesn't count!!"
Sony is mostly invested in their studios making 3rd person action/adventure games xD
You bring up a good point about Playstation losing out on Doom, which was one of the best fps franchises last gen.
But Playstation still gets Apex, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Far Cry, Metro, Bioshock, Borderlands, Destiny, Overwatch, Rainbox Six, etc. Still plenty of FPS's that appeal to a wide range of the general public.
@StrongDeadlift: Do you really believe your fanboy drivel? If so... 🤣
That first sentence isn't even true..
Killzone 2 scored a 91 and the worst Halo which was 5 scored an 84!!
even if you stick with just the 360 ps3 gen the worst was halo 4 at 86 which killzone and resistance 2 beats..
Warhawk is third person.
Never said it wasn't. I just said I used to like Sony in those days.
please don't talk about warhawk lol. I wish sony would bring it back.
sony beats xbox in the single player game department but xbox wins when it comes to online games.
Sony better get on the ball here when it comes to online games.

Basically this. I really enjoy Killzone 2 for the most parts and Resistance 2 were both great. killzone: Shadowfall was okay but truly forgettable.

I dont think there's anything controversial about the statement that Sony has never made a better FPS or Multiplayer game than the worst mainline Halo installment.
They've made basically no FPS/competitive multiplayer games of substance at all in the past gen, and the ones they made in the PS3 era (all of which I played back then) were struggling to gain relevance among their contemporaries (Halo/Gears/COD/Battlefield) even back then.
There are probably more people playing Halo Reach on Xbox 360, or the PC version of Combat Evolved (NOT even MCC or Anniversary, the OG PC port of Combat Evolved from the early 2000s) right now, than Killzone 3 had in 2012. Killzone 3's player base hovered around 300, and Killzone 2 almost never had over 3000-7000 concurrent players during peak hours despite the free PSN Cows used to brag about back then (and the dedicated servers). In fact, pretty much all of Sony's multiplayer games struggled to retain a player base outside of the PS3 Uncharted games, and TLOU Factions.
(For reference, I put hundreds of hours each into Uncharted 2/3, was in both betas for Uncharted 3 and used to post on ND's forums, and my TLOU Factions level was just shy of LVL 300 for the PS3 version, and just shy of 400 for the PS4 version)
There is a reason Sony shut all those games servers off with the quickness, and dont even care to support them in modern re-releases. Sony doesn't even want you to remember they made most of those games. (Killzone)

You care about Metacritic scores. I care about the core fundamentals of the gameplay formula, its mechanics, and whether it was actually good or not.
#We'reDifferent.
Killzone 2 and 3 were widely critisized for its terrible gunplay, sluggish controls and input lag. There is a reason Halo Infinite's graphics look like bootycheeks, yet its gunplay is so strong its garnered this positive response within the industry.
Killzone 2 has its MC score for the same reason Crysis 1 has its MC score. Its a pretty tech demo.
I agree PS needs to release more fps, but killzone 2/3 and the resistance series are some of my favorite fps.

Um, no. The worst Halo (and it was a dumpster fire doozy) is Halo 3 ODST with an 83.

you're the one who brought up metacritic..
i was using the metric you used and those games scored well because they were good no matter how you wanna spin it..

I forget that it exists because of how boring it was..

The worst Halo game was ODST and it had an 83..
Killzone 2 and 3 and Resistance all scored higher than that..
@letshavefun:
Heck, Killzone 2 scored better than the last three Halo's, including Infinite.

In general, PlayStation does need more multiplayer games but let's not act like games like COD, Battlefield, Fortnite, Apex, Rainbow Six etc. don't dominate. Those cover the majority of people's needs on all platforms.
I honestly don't think Sony has had any incentive to push an FPS game for years because the FPS genre is such an oversaturated market. Just look at last gen, the PS4 was selling double of what the Xbox was and the Xbox had Halo then too. It's safer, cheaper, and more effective to buy timed content with an established yearly shooter release from one of half dozen already established shooter franchises than it is to invest in developing a new shooter when having one obviously didn't help your competition catch up to you.
Seems Insomniac didn't want to keep Resistance going and Sony probably forced Guerrilla to pivot to something else, or else go the ways of Evolution or Sony Liverpool. Anyhow, both Insomniac and Guerilla have moved to better pastures with more successful IPs so until those run their courses, we probably won't see either get revived. I'd love to see Guerrilla tackle Killzone again but probably not happening while Horizon is growing a series. I'd be fine if they want to leave Resistance in the past, surely Insomniac can do something better starting from scratch.
Dont really care about FPS anymore. Now is the time for Sony to bring back the king of 3rd person shooters....Socom.
Don't really like FPS games and it seems like no one except for COD developers are capable of making smooth and precise controls so pretty much better without them.
Sony Firstplacestation has done really well and won multiple generations in a row without focusing on them.
Better off with third person action titles like the GOTG winners The Last of Us and The Last of Us 2 as well as GOTY winners like UC2, UC4, etc...
Sony attempted to compete with Xbox and Halo with Resistance and Killzone, then MAG a little later on. None came close. I did love Killzone 2 and 3 though. Resistance's online was fun but a sloppy mess imo.
I only enjoyed 1 FPS from either Sony or MS, so neither is better or worse than the other in that area in my opinion.
1. Loved Halo CE from 2001 on OG xbox
2. Loved Killzone 2 from 2009 on PS3 (thought the acting was lackluster compared to other Sony AAA's)
After that?
Tried Halo 2, 3 hated them and didn't bother ever trying any other titles
Tried Killzone 3, Shadow Fall hated how they changed the controls to be lighter and different from the original feel of KZ2
