I enjoyed the game, but to be honest, totally forgot about it until the rumors of the sequel came about. It seemed like an inferior game to what Bethesda currently offers (Doom and Wolfenstein). I’m kinda curious to know why they would make another one. Regardless, I would probably get it if it’s good. What about you, SW? Did you play the original Rage? Enjoy it?

I feel like ive started and stopped an hour in so many times I lost count.

I always thought it was pretty good, but for some reason I kept forgetting about it.

I think I'll give it another go this weekend.

My attitude towards sequels is that if the developer truly feels like there are some things they want to build off of the original and could complete the gameplay with or the story, then it's a risk worth taking. I won't write it off until I see it. I'm even second guessing how I wrote off the news that there could be a Quantum Break sequel. There are many instances of a lackluster IP turning into gold with the right reformulations.

Played (PS3 version) about 3-4 hours worth, about 5 years ago. Never touched it again. Not exactly interested in finishing it, tbh.

I think it gets more crap than it deserves, but I never finished it to be honest. In any case, the core concept is solid. Give it better driving physics and a wider variety of enemies and environments, and this could be a pretty awesome game.

Played the 360 version and enjoyed it but I recall the ending to have been really lousy. I’m interested in seeing how a sequel might turn out for it.

It looked good up until you got close to something. That is where their mega texture tech would fail. IdTech 6 fixed this.

i mostly just remember how fucked up technically it was on the PC.

it ran better on my laptop with a low-end mobile nvidia GPU than it did on my gaming PC which had a AMD GPU at the time.

I recall enjoying the more linear shooter levels a good deal but the driving stuff was pretty boring and the game overall was not great

I've actually just started playing it on XB1, and it's OK so far... definitely nothing special (except the graphics hold up very well). I doubt I'll finish it.

But if they make the story/characters & the world a little more interesting and detailed, I'd definitely check out Rage 2.

I enjoyed the shooting action, which was very solid, and also liked the pretty environs.

But having to go over the same ground all the time, and clear same locations, got really old really soon. Also, the racing scene just did not work.

@hrt_rulz01: you should go for the five finger fillet achievement, its one of the most frustrating things to do in a video game.

As for the game, it was ok, but the racing was boring af.

Nope, tried multiple times.

World you don't care about, boring A-B levels. Mad Max aesthetic we've seen many times before.

Only stand out thing was an FPS with driving being a big part of the game. But (third person) Mad Max does it way better.

The Ai was pretty good, at least better than most of the shit in FPS these days.

I feel like I played it right after smashing the living crap out of Borderlands. And it just wasn't Borderlands because nothing is. Wub wub.

@goodzorr: Yep, same here, it did NOT compare well with Borderlands.

Rage was like Borderlands with worse graphics (better tech perhaps but not art style), no co-op, less (no?) looting, poorer driving and po-face rather than non-stop humour.

I played for around an hour or two before quitting, and remember only 2 good things about it:

1. Enemies would react properly to getting shot based on location and momentum. ie a running enemy, getting shot in the knee, would stumble and fall but keep rolling/sliding in the direction they had been going. That was cool.

2. John Goodman voiced a character. He sounded about as bored as I felt though!

Really enjoyed Rage, and I consider it one of the better ID FPS games.

I had a lot of issues with the game at the start, the PC version launched in a terribly bad shape.

But I ended up really liking Rage, the shooting, throwing a boomerang... it all felt really great.

Loved the world, the ways enemies behave, ...

Artistically it was one of the better looking "mad max" style games as well. You can easily find shitty textures all over the place, but if you stand back, abit, it genuinely looks amazing at times.

@uninspiredcup: The texture technology in RAGE was definitely WIP.

A lot of them would be really blurry, even if you stood generally close to a texture.

I actually loved it, but it was about half as long as I wanted it to be. All of a sudden, it was over when I was beginning to really enjoy it. The graphics were awesome, the guns were fun to use, the enemies fun to shoot, the AI was cool, story and characters were ok. It's a good game that could've been superb.

I'd love to see an improved sequel.

One of the biggest flops this gen. I remember it taken all of the E3 awards, hype was through the rough. Then it came out and no one remembers it.

Nah... I think at that point I had already played too many games with either the same setting or similar gameplay.... I couldn't even give it a chance. I bought it, played for less than an hour and took it back.
