This is a seriously powerful GPU and it's not cheap, the RTX 2080 ti will set you back $1,200 and it still can't even do 60fps with this game. Not even close, It's locked at 30 fps.

What does that say about next gen consoles ray tracing performance? Well, one thing is looking very obvious, the PS5 does not have enough CUs with only 36 to get anywhere near 2080 ti performance, heck it probably can't even match the 2060's ray tracing performance.

The Xbox Series X is a beast with 52 CUs and that means you can expect decent ray tracing performance on next gen titles.

What this means for you is expect a lot of PS5 games to run at 30 fps due to poor ray tracing and overall performance for next gen games. If you want your games to look next gen and run at a full 60 or 120 fps, the Xbox Series X is where you want to be.

If you want to play The Last of US 3 and find out what happens to Abby, then the PS5 is a decent buy.

But this is just my opinion, what say you?

Ray tracing is expensive. This was known when the RTX was released.

@Xplode_games: it's not optimized for a 2080 ti/pc platform it's not exclusive to the pc it's multiplatform it doesnt take advantage of any specific platform in general of course its gonna be ass.

The series x won't do any better than the 2080. So expect 30fps with ray tracing on most titles. Fun fact, the ray traced Minecraft shown on the series X ran better on the 2060. Not saying the series x won't outperform that card when optimized, just don't expect miracles.

The point is it's going to take a lot of hardware power to run next gen ray traced graphics. The truth is both next gen consoles are going to struggle with ray traced graphics because the $1,200 beast 2080 ti struggles. The PS5 with it's 36 CUs is just going to really be bad.

That's simply not true. The 2080 ran it better than the XSX but that's a powerful and expensive GPU as well.

@Xplode_games: nah, if the game was built ground up for the pc it coulda ran ray tracing better if the game was actually built ground up with ray tracing in mind.

2080 Ti can't do 4K 60fps on some games so LOLZ at these new consoles doing it and that's before RT even becomes part of the conversation.

Yup. My 2080 struggles to hit 4K/60, which is why i'll dip to 1440/120 on my TV... Fallen Order was a big one for that.

@Xplode_games: Specs yes... but no one knows their performance as we don't know what each game's optimization will be.

The devs probably don't even have it finalized yet.

I have said it right from the beginning that this first generation of RT hardware is shit. I have a 2080 Ti and it is shit on the majority of RT titles. I usually just disable RT unless the game has DLSS 2.0 like Wolfenstein: Youngblood. So, forget the buzzwords and hype. RT is not realistic on the majority of games with today's hardware. I don't expect much from the console implementation. Our only hope in the near future is with the upcoming GPUs for PC. Second gen RTX should be more efficient and I don't know what RDNA 2 will be like, but I am not expecting much from it either.

Turn off ray tracing, probably see it jump to 60+ FPS lol.

Meh, ray tracing is a luxury, and as far as implementation into games a relatively new tech. Performance is still my main focus, followed by textures, then anything that adds to immersion.

Give it time.

It's a good thing I'm good at staying 1440p realm for a long time until 4K becomes mainstream and feasible to achieve.

I for one love using ray-tracing for the most parts and playing Control in ray-tracing was a nice treat. My RTX 2070 is nothing to brag about but it gets me what I want. Of course, if the rumors are true regarding RTX 3070Ti, I might pull the trigger to grab it lol.

I haven't dipped into RT below 4K, but I should. 1440p seems to be the sweet spot at the moment. Sadly, TVs have to evolve rather significantly. Hell, TV channels are barely outputting 4K, except for sports.

I'll dip into RT if the 3 series can do a decent job.

They better implement DLSS 2.0 if they haven't. Heck Nvidia should make every dev working on an RTX title do it by default.

It would be nice if every dev implemented it. Original DLSS was blurry shit, but I have become a believer with DLSS 2.0.

The original saints row ported to pc would be alot cooler than this, the original saints row was more serious less of a ''goofy game'' than the later games it was only released on xbox360.That game still has some of the sickest explosions ive seen in a game tho.

Yep! The PS5 SSD transfer rate can be easily converted to TFLOPS making the PS5 clock in 15.78 TFLOPS when its true power is unleashed. When you enable the Kraken booster it destroys the competition at 19.28 TFLOPS. Series X has already been outclassed and the 3080 Ti is outdated even before it has been officially announced.

@BassMan: Ya they look pretty good, but they lack the direct x 9 heat haze effect used in like saints row 1# or doom3, which makes explosions look cooler. you know makes explosion look like it's truely hot.

doom3 made you install direct x 9b for that effect lol, even tho the game engine ran under open gl api.

RT and 4k can f off for another 3-4years. GPU's aren't ready for it.
