  • A reboot fixes most PS5 Post patch performance issues
  • PS5 now tears and drops frames a bit more in certain scenes but it's basically the exact same
  • Series X now runs much better than in previous areas with only minor tearing
  • The Torch scene is now 60 FPS on Series X
  • Resolution can drop to 1188p now instead of 1440p which is why framerates are improved
  • Quality Mode runs at a locked Native 4K at 30fps on both consoles
  • Custcenes in Quality mode have a stutter when the camera changes
  • Xbox and PC versions still have stuttery camera movement
  • Series S has a 60fps mode but can drop to 720p and maxes out at around 800p
  • Performance on S is in between Series X prepatched and PS5 post patch

Series X now drops to 2111x1188 but stays locked at 60. PS5’s lowest spotted res was 1440p.

Things are not good for the most powerful console in existence. It has no launch "console" exclusives and its main claim to fame has been smothered by the 9.2 TFLOps machine running games just as well or better.

So, making Series X a 1440-1080p box would solve all of its performance issues?

Definitely not a good look for Series X. Makes me wonder what is actually happening behind the scenes. 🤔

Come on you guys, it's way too early to judge XSX performance as Ubisoft isn't known to have better engine when it comes to optimization. I agree it's not looking pretty for XSX when MS hype it as the most powerful console but still early to tell if all major AAA games cannot run next-gen consoles smoothly.

I agree it is still early. I believe this performance variance is based on the wider versus narrow and fast. At this moment, it is working in PS5 favor. Since I am not allowed to jump into graphics for at least a month, I can't even venture into finding out more information. 😥

Ubisoft was claiming the game was running 4K/60 on both the Xbox Series X and Playstation 5 before release.

Ubisoft have officially confirmed that Assassin's Creed: Valhalla will run at sharp 4K resolution and 60 frames per second on Microsoft's next-gen console Xbox Series X.

Now it turns out it was actually 1188p, not even close to 4K

This might rustle some jimmies, but maybe it's because the Series X isn't as capable in practice as it is on paper? Sure there's room for optimization but will it be enough to get around technical limitations like slower GPU clocks and split memory architectures?

You have to some extent answered why TF numbers mean nothing unless everything in the machine works in harmony and to perfection.

Wish others would recognise this.

In a way the resolution metrics are lower than what was promised for these new consoles. That's all of them including Series S as it has to scale all the way down to 720p. However its starting to get hard to ignore the opposite that is happening between ps5 and Series X. Is Series X still the world most powerful console?

This kind of shows that if the PS4 Pro or One X had a desktop CPU back in the day (even a quad core 8 threads at 3GHZ), they would easily have had 60fps modes. Now in 2020 though, Series S with a 60fps mode at 720p is not impressive. It's missing some bandwidth and a GPU.

The PS5 though, impressive machine with it's "can't sustain the 10.3Tflops for long periods" GPU.

The only thing that is of any substance in your speculation is the GPU clocks. Split memory would not negatively affect the performance unless you believe that 10GB is not enough, which would be an odd claim. Also, are you seriously going to argue that the Series X isn't capable?

The S was marketed as a 1440p system is now running games in 720p, and we're at the end of 2020 🤣

What will happen in two years from now? Are we gonna reach that juicy 540p? 😁

And is it just me or this game is f*cking ugly? Like a really fugly video game. Its like Unity was the last asscreed Ubi tried, and ever since, they've set the series into auto pilot and are just shitting them as quickly as possible.

You're judging graphics off of shitty compressed youtube vids?

Oh no wait, stills from shitty compresses youtube vids.

Nobody playing this game on PS5, Xbox Series or a halfway decent PC would call this game ugly.

Hair looks a bit off though, we aren't quite there yet with next gen hair.

Dunno about that. These models remind me of TW2, a game from 2010.

I'm not arguing that it's not capable. But it could just be that the series x obviously has some hardware limitation that's making it lose out to PS5 in this way. Split memory is just one speculation that could end up being benign but the rest plus any other unknown bottleneck could exist and optimization might not be able to overcome them.

Try quoting me where I or NX Gamer said this game goes down to 1080p. Go ahead I'll wait.

You won't do it though because he said it goes down to 1260p, a bit higher than DF's 1188p. Get your act together dude...

So the xbox got a patch that doesnt fix performance, but actually lower resolution from 1440p to 1188p to be able to hit 60FPS, which the PS5 doesnt do..🤔

I am sure the tide will change by early next year. 😛

MS is to definitely blame for this. Many people said that using TFs as a metric wasn't reliable, but that didn't stop them from using it as a marketing tactic anyway. I'm sure MS will come out with a much stronger Series Pro in three years (maybe earlier), but so far, the power differences between the current 4K machines seems like a wash.

That would make sense if it didn't take at least 3 years to develop Valhalla but being that developers had dev kits for several years now...what's the excuse?

They didn't. The first set of devkits were out late last year. With that said, I doubt that is the issue.

It has never been reliable, it is theoretical performance. However, PS5 probably doesn't reach it's numbers either, personally just think MS has an API issue, or something like that. Maybe there is a bottleneck in the hardware somewhere too.

MS marketing has always been shady, but no where near as bad as Intel.

They didn't. The first set of devkits were out late last year. With that said, I doubt that is the issue.

Either way, they need to figure out how to use the XSX properly so they can push her in the right direction. There's a power difference there and I want to see it. I know Ninja Theory is hard at work pushing her but I don't know what these other guys are doing. It makes no sense. I hate sloppy work. It's a pet peeve.

They had to drop resolution to match the PS5....

Dunno about that. These models remind me of TW2, a game from 2010.

Even Unity's still look fine.

That's what i am saying, Unity looks better, and is 6y old or whatever. Not only do the faces look better, but the facial animations don't look wooden af. Current AssCreeds have facial expressions on par with Fallout 4, and that was bad. Ubi is not trying to evolve the series anymore. They added rpg mechanics because its a perfect way of milking with mtx, and the rest of the series is on auto pilot.
