Acording to the FF15 game director. Well, that explains why so much weeb trash makes it to PC nowadays. PC is where all the money is now. Even with the optimization for low end PCs, apparently the development for PC is still "100 times" easier yoh

Making FF15 for PC is '100 times' easier than console version

The PC version of Final Fantasy 15 is set to become the definitive edition of the game. It will boast improved graphics, a new first-person mode and support for 8K resolutions. You'd think those add-ons would make development difficult—not so, according to game director Hajime Tabata. In fact, he says it was "more than 100 times" easier crafting the PC edition than the console version before it.

The team only started working on the PC edition this year but it's due to come out in early 2018, and Tabata told MCV: “The console version, which required reconstruction from the very start for both the game itself and the engine, was more than 100 times more difficult."

Tabata also revealed that the team is working hard to make the game run better on low-end PCs. “In entering the global PC market, it’s a requirement that games can be played on a wide range of specs,” he said. “At this stage, FFXV is at the high end of these settings, and we are in the process of seeing how well we can push things out on a lower spec."

I mean, yeah, developing a game and engine from scratch is probably more than 100 times harder than porting it to PC.

Even says as much in your quote.

“The console version, which required reconstruction from the very start for both the game itself and the engine, was more than 100 times more difficult."

Just saying lol.

Everyone knows that building a game engine from scratch is the hardest part.

Given that current consoles are pretty much PCs in a box, developing for them is just as easy as for PCs.

No, it's actually Easier, as it is lot easier to optimise your games for consoles, whereas with PC versions, you need to include hundreds of graphics options for the players so they can adjust the games graphics for their PC hardware.

Console versions do not come with graphics options, or sound options, so they are so much easier to make.

So, in a nutshell, that director is talking total rubbish. Just like the OP of this thread... Check your facts, please.

That's because it was a console exclusive yoh If it takes 1 year to make a PC port, and developing for consoles was 100 times harder, so in order to fully finish the game it would take 100 years yoh

Shame Square didn't take the same care with the Nier Automata hasn't gotten a single performance/bug patch since launch and it needs it badly crashes, corrupted saves or not saving?, hidden setting killing performance. there is a fan made mod that fixes the performance but it doesn't guarantee the game won't crash I believe they're workarounds for crashing though. they did do a patch for paid dlc though. I think they might have gotten driver updates but don't know how much this help note this is for both nvidia and amd. I still plan on buying just waiting for a really good sell or worse case scenario i could buy on ps4. games mostly positive on steam so doesn't affect everyone.

I might buy Nioh depending on how good the port is but they're signs it could be bad

"The PC version can be played either on Action Mode, which features a stable 60fps, or on Movie Mode, which is described as a cinematic option that can expand the resolution to 4K. Koei Tecmo's note to press suggests you can't deviate from either of these two modes, no matter how powerful your PC." http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-10-02-nioh-confirmed-for-pc-out-november

this might be easily fixable just like Dark Souls 1 is a easy fix with a couple mods or you may just need to edit a few files easy enough.

Meanwhile, everyone else in Japan's only supporting the PC platform begrudgingly at best, or not at all at worst.

My statement still stands in that the only "good guys" when it comes to the Japanese scene are PlatinumGames and Idea Factory. Everyone else, they hate PC gaming and will drop their support if their most recent release doesn't do well enough.

Nothing good is ever easy. Not sure how making a game with thousands of configs is 100 times easier than making it for one hardware config.

Hideo Kojima and Shigeru Miyamoto are the most famous game devs of all time.

Both preferred developing games for consoles, because consoles allowed them to reach their full potential, and allowed them to make the games of their dreams.

Also, Hideo stated the other reason he preferred consoles was because console gamers were smarter, and could thus follow his intricate storylines. Same could not be said for PC gamers, who, when playing MGS, would utter such silly questions as 'How can ocelot wield a revolver?' and 'What the heck is Hind D????'

PS4 is one of mankinds greatest engineering achievements.

NASA have it displayed right next to parts of Apollo 11

If this guy was on system wars Charizard would ban him for defamation of the mighty PS4.
