Detroit: Become Human posits a well-worn future, when androids have become so lifelike and so deeply integrated into human society that surely it's only a matter of time and circumstance until they break through to the other side and achieve consciousness. There isn't much time spent examining how such a seemingly preventable event might be possible; Detroit is primarily focused on androids' experiences during the process of their awakening, and their shock when looking at humanity with eyes unclouded for the first time. Ultimately, it's up to you to decide how they react in the face of adversity.

It is a gameplay-light experience broken up into dozens of chapters with hundreds of decisions to make during cutscenes and explorative sequences. The only real challenge is to be fast, thorough, and perceptive enough to guide characters towards decisions that match your moral compass--or not, if you prefer your stories messy and chaotic. As a result of the myriad crossroads in Detroit, few players will experience events in the exact same way. Pivotal moments gone awry can lead some characters to premature deaths, but even small deviations can have a lasting impact on the state of the people, places and events you encounter throughout. Many of the decisions may seem mundane at first, but however benign a choice may seem, they add up, and gradually draw you into each character's individual experience.

Yeah, the demo didn't set the world on fire for me. May try it out when it gets a drop I can't pay $60 out the gate for this type of game even if it hit 9.0

It's what we expected, interactive story game. Cage delivered another Cage.

But you said, "what I expected from the game"...so me posting it's MC score corrects your expectation or mis-wording.

Either way if 7.0 if what you expected from the game, you were wrong. If 7.0 is the score you expected from Gamespot then you should have said that.

Looking at the in progress reviews, it looks like it may well start edging towards that 7 after all.

Anyways, I was getting this game regardless, this kind of SciFi story interests me. Dont know if I will have time to play at launch though, busy with State of Decay 2, Conan, several other games

7/10 is still a good score, not great, but I don't care, I want to play it anyways.

I mean, they gave State of Decay 2 a 5/10 and I've been having a blast with that since release, haven't ran into bugs yet either.

For an interactive story, that's fine with this score. Also, never understand how games with limited gameplay can get such high scores to begin with and I was gonna buy Detroit: Being Human anyways regardless whatever score it get's.

I like games with a strong narrative, but I honestly feel like if a game is just a QTE, I'd rather read a book. I just don't get it, but more power to the people who do. At least it's not multicolored versions of the same ending, right? That's kinda cool.

Not a fan of these types of games so a 7 doesn't really bother me. Still good to have options though.

No, the Media is bias against David Cage apparently because of transgressions.

lol yeah GS had to shake it up, Detroit is about the best chance they would have to be hip and give a lower score than the MC so they took it.

I don't think many people will care but at least this will give xbox fans something to cheer about.

Anyways, can't see a David Cage game being worth much more than a 7. And it's still a ok score. Played lower rated games that I enjoyed.

I called it right on the money. Personally, I don't see myself playing it until it hits PSNow or something. Until Dawn looked more fun.

Dozens of 10 -20 minute gameplay light chapters. That's taken from their review, even a seven seems high.
