I just beat it around 30 minutes ago and now AC III is probably my most anticipated sequel. The story alone deserves a 9.0 in my book, as it has raised questions I have had myself about the reality we are taught. (No, I do not mean the literal story of the game, lol. Merely the validity of religions, the regurgitation of the same stories told in culture after culture and how is it that we really arrived here?) However, AC II as a whole is just so unique and stands out in just about every respect, so I'll be giving it a 9.5.
How they can give a game with such scope, attention to detail, great story, pacing and unique gameplay such a low score is simply appalling and spits in the face of games as art and as a means of expressing underlying themes. This game masterfully does that and to see it go unappreciated from someone who obviously does not 'get it' is sad indeed. What do you do, though? Opinions are like A-holes, everybody has one and some do not care where they let it out, no matter how bad it stinks.:)
