Poll Desperdos 3 vs Red dead Redemption 2 - Whats the best western game release this generation? (26 votes)

Desperados 3 31%
Red dead Redemption 2 69%

Hello friends

Vs

No Caption Provided

So there are only 2 western games release this gen. Gunslinger was last gen and it was by far best one but we are end of gen and wild west is not popular in games at all as barely anyone explore this interesting setting. which one you found better?

for me its easily Desperados 3. while RDR2 is incredible looking game, incredible animation, living breathing world, story is fantastic but game design suck its linear when you are in mission and just riding horse with crews over and over again which got boring ie hourse riding simulator. still i gave it credit for being Rockstars best open world game by far.

Desperados 3 is masterpiece. its best stealth game since long time. it required tactics and strategy to play and follow simple revenge story. when it comes to mission design Des3 own RDR2 in literally every way. its just better game imo but not enough mainstream.

so friends which 2 of wild west game release this gen is better? lets discuss.

You are right, there should be more games set in the West.

Have you seen Weird West? It's from the guy behind Dishonored and Prey, Raphael Colantonio.

Same answer as last time. Haven't played Desp, but RDR2 wins.

It's not really a fair comparison, RDR2 is a living world os Wild West and ultimate outlaw fantasy.

I can praise many elements of RDR2. but still wont deny it is overrated.

I like character of Aurther morgan alot. He is major improvement over previous john marston who was awful character especially how he speak. Aurther is incredible. Dutch is also charismatic leader.

they actually drop the ball on controlling plus gameplay. KB/M feel better actually. heard controller suck for this game. shooting is very basic and too much tediousness.

on other hand Des3 has basic story but each and every mission is different to other. theres some Hitman like missions too. each character has different attributes. It is best spritual successor to commandos.

RDR 2 is very overrated imo. I would rather play Desperados 3 as it was one of my favorite games of 2020.

To everyone saying RDR2 is overrated, did you think that of the first one also or just the sequel?

Both are.

Original one was less tedious but had dull western world and becomes outdated fast. also had terrible cow hearding missions.

Sequel is better game overall but too tedious and boring although having better story and characters and better game world actually.

in short this is the best western game ever made

Loading Video...

Shits on both RDR games.

I'm one for giving Ghosts plenty of shit for his horrible posting but I do believe English to be his second language. Now seeing as I can only speak one language, I will never make fun of someone for not being able to speak a second language perfectly.

His quote about intellectual games is golden though.

RDR2 is easily one of the best games of the generation. I heard good things about Desperados 3 but haven't played it, played Shadow Tactics though and just can't see a game of the Commandos design besting RDR2.

Both are great, but RDR2 is the better experience IMO. it puts you in the shoes of a cowboy and makes for first rate escapism.

game has its issues to be sure but the good aspects far outweigh them.

D3 is a great stealth tactics game but its insanely trial-and-error based and pretty finnicky. requires a lot of patience to a degree that gets a bit tiresome after a while.

atleast RDR2 is not as bad as GTA5 or any other GTA for that matter. its 10 times better than any of GTA in every way but step back from Max payne 3 in terms of controls and shooting.

Max payne 3 was only masterpeice by rockstar.

As amazing an accomplishment as RDR2 is... it's just not that fun.

Desperados 3 for me.

It would be the same answer if you asked me to pick one to play right now.

Desperados 3 by a country mile.

Pretty much this.

Even worse, it degrades to work and toil too often. It's more often work than it is fun.

Impressive, sure. But not fun. It's sort of like the cliche of the hot but dumb blonde. At first you're like "Oh wow, I'm in love" but then you start talking and suddenly she just isn't that attractive any more.

And this is why I believe RDR2 is a tech demo.

Its also step back from Max payne 3 in everyway but far above any GTA.

Agreed. I enjoy playing RDR2 at times simply because the world is so amazing to explore and marvel at, but pretty much all the missions, no matter how novel the setup, degrades to the same tired old shooting galleries. If you ignore the context, almost all of the missions play out identically. There's also never any opportunity to complete a mission your own way. It's either the developers way, or a mission failed screen.

RDR2 seems like a slog. Since I play games for fun, Desperados 3 would most certainly be the better option for me.

I've played neither though and probably never will.
