Death's Door - Xbox One & Xbox Series S|X, PC - releases July 20th

It's an Xbox console exclusive for now releasing for both Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X, as well as PC, and unfortunately not part of the Game Pass line-up (yet) but will be releasing at a modest price of $19.99, and it's 15% ($3) off right now for Xbox pre-orders for next few days. It releases July 20th. It's a Devolver Digital release, that's an indie publisher that continues to resonate more for me with each of their games I play.

As for Death's Door, looks to be an isometric Zelda-like adventure where the player takes on the role of a sword wielding crow who ventures out to capture the souls of the dead. The devs said it is not a rogue-like and that the game is a hand crafted adventure, and promises to have challenging and responsive combat.

Here they stress the game is really good at crafting its atmosphere and maintaining it as the game progresses. It also says it's not a rogue-like nor a souls-like, and will have a checkpoint progression system. Seems they wanted an adventure people can enjoy and progress through steadily.

Well, I am excited to try this. Will anybody else be giving this a shot? Since I don't spend much on games anymore thanks to Game Pass I will go ahead pay for this one. Hopefully I can finish it before The Ascent hits Game Pass.

Never head of it, but like everything about it 😁! This is pretty much what I want from a game. And praise the sun its structure is inspired by Zelda! Was worried as I watched the video he would drop the ’R’-word 😬. But no, this is brilliant!

Funny how just looking at a game can give you that impression these days, not that I hate the genre entirely but it's such a mixed bag with rogue-likes it's nice to know that's not in the equation.

Not the biggest fan of isometric camera angles in games.

Better yet, don't go knocking on Death's Door lol. All jest aside, as far as Indie game goes, Death's Door wasn't the highlight for me during this past E3 2021, only Replaced got my full attention as the next Indie big thing. If Death's Door was indeed part of GP, I would've given it a try. For a MS game, I'm surprised its not on GP.

Looks good, a bit worried how it will control with m/k! But if no issues is reported I’ll probably pick it up

Watched a couple hands on, one likened it to 50/50 A Link To The Past and Dark Souls, this one though is a good one to watch to show the menus, items, gameplay, yeah seems very A Link To The Past, seems very accessible in control, management, skill leveling progression, and avoids being grindy:

The Ascent looks far better than this.

Same here. It's kept me from playing the supposed "best" games in the genre. But Iso games tend to be a turnoff

It's not in Game Pass so I'm not jumping in right away. I'll be checking out Cris Tales today if I don't like it I might give it a chance.
