Steam Spy estimates 1-2 million sales on PC. Which would mean 3-4 million sales on PS4.

My guess is 80/20 or 75/25.

I don't believe half those that gave this a good review actually enjoyed it.

I got this for free from a friend who gifted it to me and ended up loving the game. The story was weird. Kojima is definitely weird, but eventually I fell into the gameplay loop and found it really satisfying. I want to play the director's cut. And, here's the thing, I probably never would have picked this game up had it not been a free copy. So, I can get how people would look at DS and have zero interest. I would even have a difficult time figuring out who to recommend it to.

It's just a game that is way better than a lot of the disdain that is thrown at it.

Kojima just seems to be really divisive.

Definitely getting the Hideo Kojima produced directed written by Hideo Kojima director's cut extended alternate cut.

You are right, PS does indeed need the PC to complement it.

Some people forgot that Death Stranding came to EGS first before it became available on Steam, so chances are most of the sells went to EGS, and even though I bought it on PS4 when it launch, I bought it again on EGS due to a huge discount I paid less than Steam, so part my contribute went through EGS. Selling the game on EGS for less vs norm price on Steam did played a big deal.

5 million is still better than nothing and to be blunt, I thought it was hovering 3 million but 5 million is a huge surprised.

As for Luigis Mansion 3, why bring that up but hey, no one didn't bother making a thread, so oh well.

Game had a great setup, interesting beginning, then devolved into normal Kojima nonsense and Monster energy drink ad campaign.

I hope some of those 5 million people enjoyed delivering packages for a dozen hours while falling down repeatedly.

Freaking loved this game.

Started on PS4. I did a shit load of deliveries before chapter 3 and burned myself out. Got back to it on PS5. Focused more on the storyline and loved every second of it!

Yup. Which, whatever, gamers on the internet.

But still, trips me out how the same people who are like "AAA never takes risks or does anything different!" will go out of their way to shit on this game they haven't even tried. Then act like the blame lies squarely on the publishers for things being the way they are.

To be clear, not dismissing those who played and disliked it. Or even those who simply don't see the appeal (I was in that camp). Just the weirdos with an irrational hate boner for this game or Kojima in general.

Hideo Kiwami turned into George Lucas with the Prequels.

In time Death Standing will be revaluated.

5 million is a good figure for a brand new IP, dont try to spin it. 90% of new IPs wished they could pull these numbers...

Anyway, glad it wasnt the flop everyone was saying it was when it first released. I really liked the game and it helped me cope with a very harsh time in my life. Too bad I will now associate the game with those harsh times of mine... maybe in a couple of years I'll replay it and those memories will only be nostalgic and nothing else so that I can finally laugh at the all situation...

Are people really having a re-evaluation of the prequels, or are the kids that grew up on them coming of age?

PS is the perfect home for luggage simulators.
