From SegmentNext and Resetera report. Journalist João Seixas who works as an editor for Record.pt (one of the biggest sports magazines in Portugal and covering their gaming side) gave a bit of early impression on what he played. He says its ONE OF THE BEST GAME IN THE HISTORY OF VIDEO GAME. He did not delve much about the game due to embargo but its probably pretty awesome if guy who covers video game says that. He also admitted that the game is not for everyone and cater more to serious "gamers".

*TBH i have no idea what all this website even is and how trustworthy they are but it makes a good post to rub on PC mustard race, and xbox has no game crowd, Death Stranding is for now exclusive to PS4.

Kojima never gets enough credit for the awesome gameplay in his games.

Too many of you just go “lol movie/11 hours of cutscenes” and dismiss his work.

Kojima makes fun games.

@ajstyles: kojima makes really fun game and allows for so much freedom in its environment, that's why many people really likes his game.

@ajstyles: @sakaixx:

MGS5's gameplay was top notch but too bad the game as a whole was an unfinished product.

This thread is going to age poorly and like the locked Era one you linked it's clearly explained why.

This is preemptive "If you don't like it you don't understand it" damage control, this is going to turn into a mediocre game that crazy Kojimaites say requires a high IQ to grasp or some other equally dumb nonsense.

On the box cover, it doesn't say "Only on PlayStation" so this pretty much says it's coming to PC at a later date since Kojima hinted it would.

When someone says GREATEST GAME EVER! and "not for everyone" in the same sentance, you can be rest assured it is not the greatest game ever.

@BassMan: Like @sakaiXx said, the guy got a review copy, which many known youtube reviewers didn't. At the very least he is really into gaming just like anyone here.

But wait, let me get this straight. If he isn't a reviewer from a well known gaming website we shouldn't take his opinion seriously, but then again you never take professional reviewers' opinion seriously. So which one is it?

Sorry Bass but these two have a point. A Reviewer is always about opinion what you play and what you discover to let the readers know the good, the bad, and the ugly about the game itself. I always prefer independent/free agent reviewers then the big gaming site reviews and I never take Gamespot reviewers seriously.

So because someone nobody has heard of gets a review copy he suddenly becomes credible lol.

I'm betting he was paid to say those things that's why they picked a nobody from a small European country

You know what opinions are like, right?

Every review needs to be taken with a grain of salt but I think the funny part is, if true, the reviewer is from a sports site.

Imo boring gameplay subsidised with real actors and hours of cut scenes to numb the pain of a 2 hour walk to a cabin In the hills to drop a letter off, stopping occasionally to shake a giant snow globe and use a magic ladder

Only based on what I have been shown

Yes, a review is an opinion. However, I value a reputable game reviewer's opinion more than a guy writing for a sports magazine. It is just a desperate attempt for positive coverage.

@BassMan: Do you know this person? Because what you said sounds prejudiced. If any of the current big name reviewers quit their current job and started working for a sports magazine, writing some game reviews here and there, would they magically lose their credibility?

Maybe you should just admit that you unreasonably want this game to fail like many other people here. What a bunch of immature teenagers.

This makes me appreciate Splinter Cells more mature take on the genre where it feels fantastical but still grounded enough, with slower pacing to give it that Tom Clancy feel.

Metal Gear Solid 4 (and to an extent all of them) don't know when to ring it in which directly hurts the gameplay, namely pacing, which it all over the shit.

Splinter Cell (1/3/DA) are tight.

Metal Gear Solid (1) is about the tightest of the series, and that's probably down to Tomokazu Fukushima and the forced limitation of the tech.

Of course I am prejudice in this situation. I don't read sports magazines for gaming reviews. Just like I don't come to GameSpot to find out about sports. I don't know the individual reviewer, but if he wants me to take him seriously, he should at least collaborate with a games publication and not a sports magazine.

It has nothing to do with wanting the game to fail. I hope the game is good.

@i_p_daily: If you're actually being serious and not trolling:

Many people get review copies, especially when they work for magazines or websites such as this one. Now, the review embargo lifts on Nov 1, a WHOLE week before the release of the game, which means two things:

- People will have plenty of time to read about the game before deciding whether it's worth a buy or not.

- They feel pretty confident about the reception.

Paying some nobody to say something positive about the game and risking their rep doesn't make any freaking sense. At all. And besides, what's the point? If the game is awful, everyone is going to find out a week before release.

I wouldn't give this any credit. Record is an old publication trying keep being relevant. Their gaming "division" is kinda bad, just take a look and how random is their coverage, and if you read Portuguese you'll see how their writing lacks quantity.

The game might still be amazing but not based on this.

And let's not forget Death Stranding went gold meaning production went underway and if a game goes gold, it also means reviewers will get a copy way early to write up their review and published it asap when the embargo are lift.

I know payed reviews are out their but they are very rare nowadays. Everyone writes reviews differently and this Portuguese being one of them.

At this rate, I don't need a review and I already pre-order my copy a long time ago, so I'll be playing DS day one and will give you all my opinion.

Its sent to a sporting magazine, think about that for a second, not a game site where gamers would visit or a game magazine, but an actual sports magazine, sending a copy to preview would be like sending say, what's that idiot that people mention here all the time……..(pauses and 10mins later) that sterling idiot a new pair of Nike joggers to preview, it makes no sense.

@davillain-:

So you've just confirmed yourself to be a Kojima fangirl for the following reasons.

1) You knew more about the other game (Days Gone) and said you would buy it day 1 but when the reviews dropped you changed your tune.

2) Now you know literally nothing about Death Stranding, but are buying it day 1 without reading any reviews.

Kojima fangirl confirmed lol.

Cool. No video to prove otherwise? File this under lame, garbage journalism.

Disco Elysium fits this description and it's proven. So far, Death Stranding has proven nothing except that you walk around some hills, talk to people about shallow things, and care for a baby.

4. MGS3- mechanics were outdated at this point

Not really. If anything, MGS3's mechanics were advanced and progressive for their time. It introduced things like the stealth camo system, CQC combat system, interrogation mechanics, survival mechanics, etc.

While Snake Eater's overhead camera system was outdated, it was soon updated to a third-person camera system with the Subsistence edition. The only real mechanical issues were the convoluted controls and slow menus.

@Jag85: "It introduced things like the stealth camo system, CQC combat system, interrogation mechanics, survival mechanics, etc."

Right off the bat the cameo system was useless. cqc was weak. It's been over a decade so I don't remember the interrogation stuff. I didn't care about the survival stuff. I mean eating wild animals didn't enchanc the gameplay for me.

"While Snake Eater's overhead camera system was outdated, it was soon updated to a third-person camera system with the Subsistence edition."

See I played through the original game. The overhead camera and the gunplay didn't work well in 2005.

@PSP107: right off the bat the only thing you said that makes sense is the camera choice in mgs 3(which got fixed anyway )

Everything else you said is blabber.

To say you personally dont like it was one thing.

But dont speak as if the things you speak off are general and factually true

Camo system in mgs 3 was far from useless.

Unless you played it as a action shooter only.

And that's a general and factual statement

Thanks AGAIN for confirming AGAIN you're a Kojima fangirl.

Nothing wrong with that, it just makes your opinions on the man and his games invalid :(
