And what troubles would that be?? I invested over 300 hours in the PS3 Oblivion and don't recall any "trouble" with it at all. Easily one of the best games ever IMO. That being said I am with you 100%. Bathesda, please give us more Elder Scrolls!!!

What the heck kind of misinformation is firing off in this thread?
You should probably do some research on Oblivion PS3, and check out all the benefits.;)
Yeah I vaguely remember some minor FR issues now that you mention it. Very minor though but they WERE there. Anyway I'm crossing my fingers for an E3 announcement also.

The FR for both console versions was a minor issue from time to time, even on PC depending on your rig. Too many enemies firing magic at you can do that.
Didn't the PS3 version have better graphics and better framerate out of the two?
Vesica_Prime
Yes, and better draw distances as well...there was a patch on 360, but the PS3 still came out ahead. It's not a big deal, and we are giving far to much credit to Bethesda when it comes to glitches/FR.

According to Gamespot it had superior anisotropic filtering, and I confirmed this with some screens I saw on B3D illustrating the differences, appeared to be different aniso as well. Notably, though, FO3 didn't exactly scream on PS3. But it's clear it's a multiplatform engine so I fail to see the issue in future development. What are you talking about? The PS3 version of Oblivion runs fine and it's better than the 360 version. Get your facts straight. As for ES5, i think it will be announced at E3.where's elder scrolls 5? any1 heard of anything? it should be xbox 360 exclusive since the ps3 had such troubles running oblivion

First of all, like everyone has told you, The game you're referencing, Oblivion, was touted by almost every reviewer as being overall better on the PS3.
Second, why are you trying to use a game that's dated from 2007 and 2006.....over 3 and 4 years old to cite as your "winz" example? Isn't that kind of silly, 821dan128?
Seriously, what's you're point?
The PS3 version runs Oblivion better then the Xbox 360 version does,http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/x360-v-ps3-multiformat-face-off-round-three-article?page=2.
Second comparison.
too bad, it doesnt support trophies and rumble, otherwise i would definately give it a try.
oajlu
You base your game purchases on "trophies and rumble?"..o.....k
AND if people want to play a game nearly identical to Oblivion, go buy Dragon Age. Nearly the same game.
[QUOTE="MPHhunter"]You play games for trophies and rumble? There's no much rumble in the Xbox 360 version, and the PC mice don't have rumble. :( Anyways, I think that Bethesda should get a new engine for their next game. Like the Cryengine 3. Because right now, their games look like crap and run like crap on their approximately 10-year-old Gamebryo engine. See what Oblivion could look like on CryEngine 2 here: http://www.gametrailers.com/user-movie/oblivion-running-on-cryengine/203274UnknownSniper65I'd take mods over rumble and trophies every time.
I can't believe people care that much for achievements and/or trophies.. Do they give you anything to the game if you win it? Nope.. Its a virtual pat on the back, you might as well have a white board next to you and write out your own goals.. OOOHH but I guess its for showing how "leet" you are.

VanDammFan
Uh no. They have way different combat and other things as well. The only similarities is that they are both fantasy rpgs...
I'm really hoping for an announcement of ESV soon...I'm ready for some more Elder Scrolls.
ES5 won't come out for a while because...
Bethesda just bought the D&D license from atari so that means...
Baldur's Gate 3 =Oblivion with Hamsters
Planescape Torment 2 =Oblivion with talking skulls

DA:O and Oblivion are nothing alike...
???? If I remember correctly this is the first multiplat that actually looked and played better on the PS3, of course it was released a year later. It's funny how Lems just love to overstate the "problems" with Ps3 multiplats. There has only been a couple of games that have really been that bad to where it effects gameplay and unfortunately for you it wasn't this game.where's elder scrolls 5? any1 heard of anything? it should be xbox 360 exclusive since the ps3 had such troubles running oblivion

Are you sure? I have over 300hrs on Oblivion and have been playing DA:O for a while now. AND I would say they are nearly identical. The real and only difference is you have a party with you on your journey, and no horse. Other than that...to me, they are one in the same.

I had framerate problems when I duped 900 scrolls at one. :(. I was getting like 5 FPS and it was giving me a seizure.WHAT??? ****! ****! ****! ****! That would be horrible.ES5 won't come out for a while because...

Or they should make it Ps3 exclusive so they can include way more stuff in the game and have better graphics.mgkennedy5
Oblivion was terrible on consoles because of no mods. Game was horrible without mods.
With that said I heard they are planning to make it into a MMO
Didn't the PS3 version have better graphics and better framerate out of the two?
Vesica_Prime
Yep it did! It was the first multi-plat to show a PS3 version as superior.

I hope thats sarcasm lol. Dragon Age, apart from both being RPGs set in a fantasy world, are vastly different. Dragon Age is about character development, choices, other influential characters, story, plot, etc. Oblivion is about a massive open world, do whatever the hell you want, exciting FP combat, etc etc. I dont see them as anywhere similar to easch other.
But while I agree the PS3 doesn't have "problems"... does it really run better on the PS3? GS for one gave it .1 (whatever that means) better for the xbox. I would not say that "Reviewers agree that the PS3 version is superior". the differences between them are very minor, if there is a superior version.
hahha and yh if the ps3 version was so good, how come xbox got the higher score?
821dan128
Why ask us? After all, we didn't write the review.:|
However, you got links on the benefits of the PS3 version, and information for free in this thread.;)
To answer, the PS3 version came out way later, so it was an older game, despite the improvements. Older games suffer this fate sometimes. Star Ocean 4 recently came out for PS3 with improvements, and even added content...but it got the same score here at GS as the older 360 version. I would guess if the added content wasn't in SO4, the PS3 version would have a lower score. That's just one example out of myriads.:o
You should research Oblivion PS3, like I suggested on page one, or at least use some of the links you got in this thread. :!: 8)

I hope most of you realize that the PS3 version of Oblivion came out OVER A YEAR LATER. If it would have looked the same then it would have been pathetic. That being said I'm sure they'll announce something sooner or later, heck it might be a launch title for next-gen or something.More like the The Glitch Scrolls, not Elder Scrolls.
BETHESDA is terrible at making games. Terrible. They release horribly unfinished games , as shown by both Oblivion and Fallout 3.
Jfisch93
I've never had problems with Bethesda's games. Besides maybe a few bugs here and there. But reloading a previous save usually fixes that.
