Dayz releasing tomorrow, and there's more to it than you think

It's a 16 minute video, so let me recap it for you

- Dayz is build on a new engine, future arma games will also run on it.

- The game runs pretty well on xbox due to the new engine.

- A lot of animations have been replaced, like for weapons and fire.

- Every weapon has an unique animation

- Lighting has been updated.

- They've redone a big part of the map

- Server count is upped to 80, probably 100 in the future

- There's a new radio system

- Wolves are also a part of dayz now

- You can store items in places around the maps, in oil barrels for instance.

- A lot more weather effects have been added like lightning.

- The whole melee system has been redone.

- Modding will be also possible

- many other graphical updates.

Is this game still relevant?

Arma 3 is amazingly hard. I cant imagine playing Arma 3 on console.

Yeah I know this is not Arma 3, I am just saying they are about to make literally the most challenging FPS game ever made and put it console.

Imagine hyping up DayZ in 2018 because your console has nothing else coming out.

I rather play dayz on console than spiderman to be honest, this is not the same version as on the pc, nor is it on the pc.

I actually had to make a profile with xpadder to make this game playable with a controller on the pc, and that was more challenging than you think.

Dead game that was never good.

When they get Toontown Online in the Unreal 4 engine, we're gonna be reeeeal jealous.

Imagine playing Arma 3 on console. that game would eat you alive.

It eats me alive even with M/K

this isn't arma 3, I'm not sure why you bring up arma 3, I actually played dayz on the pc with a controller and that worked pretty well.

The whole setup of the controller was a nightmare though.

because its the same core engine. I know its not arma 3, I just noticed that they are saying they are thinking of making the next arma for console. that sounds burtal. I have never played a harder FPS game in my life

you would be surprised how many things you can do with a controller, like I made my controller act in the sense when I held down dpad left and pressed a button it did something, there are 14 buttons on a controller, that's 56 actions, I'm sure they will manage it.

I cant stress enough how Arma 3 is the hardest FPS game I have ever played and I have been playing video games for 34 years. Its not the number of buttons is that you have to get to them in a microsecond if not two commands at once. you also need hyper accurate control movement.

I don't think that this game is a BR type of game, but more of a MMO survival type of game than anything else.

None of this is new, it has all been in the PC version for a while. When the game is finished and releases, that will be something new.

the price is new though, 40 bucks for this game, I was planning on buying on it, now I don't know.

I haven't played DayZ.

But from what I heard of the game:

You drop into a map and have to start hunting for resources.

You fight other players.

To me that sounds a lot like Battle Royale, and many games were inspired by DayZ for sure.

Only difference is DayZ has zombies.

@R4gn4r0k: I havent played any of the recent BR games but Dayz was like this the last time I played it about two to three years ago:

After joining a server you wake up on beach, with no gear, no map half starving and thirsty

You look for food and water, nothing anywhere except rotten apples and empty cans of Tactical Bacon

See another person, they say they are friendly, then start hitting you with an axe

You run off and manage to loose them, bleeding, screen going grey.

You figure out how to bandage yourself and carry on

You find a shotgun in a shed: "Yes! now i will have my revenge on the axe guy!"

You realise shotgun has no ammo...

You starve to death

You respawn, no gear again, half starved and thirsty

You run off to find food and find a tin of Beanz

You cant open tin because you dont have a tool to open it with

You get shot by a person wearing all military gear and a automatic machine-gun. He takes your Beanz

This kind of cycle continues for a while, until you get the hang of the game and realise that you have to be very sneaky and aware of your surroundings. You'll have a more productive time on the game if you play with friends, being coordinated and watching each-others backs but playing solo or with one other friend and setting up a successful ambush on a group can be very rewarding. Despite the negativity surrounding Dayz, it is a good game that offers some unique moments. I think people just got fed up of waiting for it to be finished.

Wait, so if i bought the game years ago, i won't have to buy it again? It's the same standalone DayZ, just remade?
