He got stuck in the game with no way to move on and someone had to tell him he had to shoot random blocks just to get out of a room that looked like normal parts of the level.

He got to the mini boss and could barely beat it due to using the regular switch joycon controller saying the controller was completely crap and he needs a pro version to be able to play metroid dredd.

After he deleted the game from his switch said its not worth his time and swiftly played Konami's Castlevania collection and said that game is way more fun and better than dread and was much cheaper.

He's being attacked by toxic metroid fanboys who are just calling him bad for not wanting to shoot every block in a game just to proceed to the next area's he likes good game design where you can see what you need to shoot to move on.

The Joycons are in the top 3 worst controllers ever created on planet Earth.

This dude is so dumb. He couldn’t unlock a secret area by shooting blocks and called it bad game design. He didn’t have to unlock the secret room, it’s secret dumbo.

He couldn’t beat a mini boss cause he sucks. If he thought mini boss was hard…omg.

The most funny part, is the game shows you in multiple ways how to unlock the secret room, he’s just too dumb to use the tools.

The game is a pain to play on the joycons. My god, it is awful. Couple that with the control layout, level design, loading and EMMI. 🥴

@gym_lion: Yeah, it can get very complex cause so many awesome things you can do. But you don’t have to. You can play it casual style if advance controls are too hard for you.

Something tells me there's more wrong than just a glitch. I can only imagine throwing in the towel on a game if the game isn't gratifying at all. He didn't make it sound like it was a game breaking event that halted all further progress. I can only assume he's overall very dissatisfied with it.

Funny though, this experience brings up part of Nintendo's gaming model that has been around for years. Older Metroid was same way, go in room and shoot every surface to find hidden passages and such, or upgrades. Funny after more than a decade I can remember like about 80% of its secrets, but yeah, frustrating idea for new-comers. Back in the day though these were those secrets people picked up either by subscribing to Nintendo power, or on the playground talking to others or when you visited your friends and picked up and exchanged tricks. And they even had those by the minute tip lines advertised in gaming magazines. Later games made looking for secrets easier with more in game clues, either unlocking or analyzing maps or indicators of how complete an area has been explored; anybody know if already has something like this?

There also used to be games that in hindsight might have been impossible with a normal Nintendo controller, so we used the Max pad... **snickers**, but yeah, here Jaffe doesn't like idea game isn't playable with default Joy-Cons, that does indeed sound bad, just in hindsight I guess these things have always been the case

Anyhow, clearly whatever the reason the game isn't gratifying for him.

I never had a problem playing with the Joy Cons. In fact, they're they only controllers I own for the Switch.

As for the YouTube jackoff who claimed Metroid Dread has bad level design, he's obviously just trolling for views. Best to simply ignore him.

I don't feel like watching the whole thing but does anybody have insight on why the normal Joy-Cons aren't suitable for the game?

He was behind Twisted Metal and God of War. So, he has more experience developing games than you do.

Joycons are made for kids. A grown ass man is not meant to use them. This is a fact that many refuse to admit.

That sounds like the entirety of Metroid Fusion. If you're not bombing and shooting every random block you are not making progress or finding secrets. It was kind of annoying.

He's been in the news a lot lately. He's allowed his opinion guys... and I'd argue it's more relevant than your own unless you've also created videogames that sold millions of copies.

My hands are pretty big and I haven't had any issues trying to play with a joycon. Screw Nintendo for that drift and their lack of a solution for it, though. One of the joycons on my daughter's Switch already malfunctioned and is drifting and it's only been like 3 months.

It's not only secret areas, there's several times where you have to randomly shoot at stuff to progress. I'm very sad to say it but this game is kind of a disappointment.

Cool. I’m using the Pro controller but don’t really have much difficulty using the joycons in general myself. Aside from the drift issue I find them to be pretty decent controllers. I’m thoroughly enjoying the game as well especially exploring and looking for all the various secrets. Am over 13 hours spent with the game and it has been well worth the money for me.
