Who's voice do you prefer as the titular character in the MGS series? I actually like both, but I gotta go with David Hayter. He pretty much made Snake/Big Boss for me. I hope we do end up hearing him in MGS V. How about you, SW?

Easily David Hayter. I realize his voicr may be a bit over the top but eh, so is MGS. His voicr IS Solid Snake.
Having said that I was surprised at how much i enjoyed Sutherland's acting.

Both are great but i was used to David Hayter being Snake, i do think Kojima replaced him as Big Boss so David could make the voice of Solid Snake in this or the next MGS game.
Eh, it's a toughie.
Of course we all know Hayter as SS/BB. He's done the voice work for so long... but truth be told he was starting to sound comical. Like a caricature of himself. Go have a listen to some of his MGS1 voice work. His voice is unique, but comes off as natural. Then go listen to some of his Peace Walker voice work. It sounds hilarious. It's not as if hit all at once. His voice was perfect for MGS and MGS2. Started slipping just a bit with MGS3. But in MGS4, the Old Snake exaggeration did him in and in Peace Walker the bottom just fell out.
That said, I do think Sutherland could be great for the part. For all the goofiness MGSV will have, the overall game is supposed to be more serious in tone and Hayter really just doesn't fit. Problem is though, that so far it sounds like Sutherland is phoning it in drunk. Almost everything we've heard of him so far sounds like crap.
This is the only good performance I've heard from Sutherland for MGSV.
Also, I'm not on board with the idea that Kojima will be bringing Hayter back as Solid Snake. At one point it might have been the plan, but I have my doubts after all of Hayters public tantrums and shit talking. Bad blood between the two now. Even after Konami greenlit the Metal Gear fan remake, it got canceled as soon as they heard Hayter was involved.

This right here folks. David is over the hill. Keifer is better but lazy. All we can do is hope that Keifer at least tries during the important scenes.
If you have any doubts listen to the beginning and end of this video. No way David would have worked for Phantom Pain.
I like Kiefer Sutherland but he only does one voice, and that's the voice of Kiefer Sutherland.

The **** ? So there isn't going to be a MGS 1 remake because of this ?
@SolidButtCheakS:
Holy shit lol. Dat video. Even worse than I thought.
@R4gn4r0k:
Not MGS1, but the original Metal Gear from MSX. Not a huge loss, but they were working on this:
As soon as it was announced that Hayter was on board for voice work and script writing, Konami pulled the plug. Could it just be a coincidence? Maybe. But Hayter really did push it with his lack of professionalism after being skipped over for MGSV.
Of course all of this could just be the ultimate trolling on Kojimas part and maybe Hayters bitching and moaning was all just an act. I really doubt it though.

Hmmmm, I get bad blood or differences between the two. But when it starts affecting other people who put work into it, that's a real shame. They can't really help the situation.
Is the MGS 1 remake getting made anyway ? Last I heard they were looking for developers who wanted to remake MGS1 in fox and a company offered to do it. I don't know how it continued from there.

Yeah, I agree man. Fans caught up in the cross fire, kind a sucks.
And yeah, now that you mention it, I do remember the Fox engine MGS1 idea floating around and Kojima mentioning a team that was willing. Haven't heard anything since though. Hopefully we'll hear more on that after MGSV releases.
I should of stated it doesn't matter to me as far as who does the VA, I'll still enjoy the game, but some people are just better and David is,
Bryan Cranston. Liam Neeson.
Either of those dudes would just kill it.

Budget probably wouldn't allow to hire those 2, although Spacey did COD AW so who knows.

I see you're a big MGS fan so I thought I would ask. But even you don't know. They've got this under wraps :P
I prefer Hayter because thats what im used to, but i understand why they chose a different actor for Big Boss.
I will say that Sutherland is far better at reading a script and determining tone and mood. Im sure being an actual actor played a role in this.
Ground Zeroes felt more like a movie than a game because of it.

They need to put Liam Neeson in an action game and RPG NOW lol
Can you imagine having the option to use his voice in Dragon Age Inqusition?
Saints Row?
It would make the whole game better lol
Sutherland can actually act to an extent.
David Hayter sucks, and hasn't been worth the price of admission since MGS3. His Snake voice might be "iconic", but the voice acting itself was rarely good. Admittedly he can blame that on the shitty scripts, but he still sucks.
David because I grew up with hearing him voice Snake, but he did kind of fall off. He couldn't really pull off Old Snake so well, but he was great for a younger, charismatic Solid Snake. If we ever get Metal Gear, hopefully we can get David back to play as Snake.
Solid Snake = David Hayter.
Big Boss = Kiefer Sutherland.
I have to agree. Though Snake will always be David.
Hearing Keifer for the first time was extremely jarring and didn't sound right. In the beginning of GZ, I had a hard time trying to figure out if it was Big Boss or Kaz talking because they sound so similar. After playing it for a bit, I am okay with it, but the initial shock sucked. LOL
Hayter. Problem with Kiefer is he's just doing Jack Bauer, which is a similar character to begin with.
I wish Kiefer Sutherland would at least change it up a bit. He just sounds like Kiefer Sutherland which sounds like that one Marine character from CoD WaW
A cat taking a hard shit sounds better than Hayter. He is a horrible VA
you sound like you would know lol

Lol, you are talking about Miller from World at War, aren't you? Yeah, I felt that too. He does sound like him sometimes.
I actually prefer Sutherland, considering how shitty Hayter got.
Yea, it was pretty bad in MGS4, sounded like he was doing an impression of Snake............rather than being Snake
It sucks, because he'll always be Snake. Still, Sutherland's take seems pretty decent, and there'll probably be a little more range in the VA.
It's not fair to answer yet.
Agreed. I have no problems with Kiefer so far.

Lol, yeah you're right. I was also on the Keifer is Gray-fox bandwagon for a bit, now I definitely have doubts. Part of me hopes all this is some elaborate troll scheme, just because it would be quite clever. But if it's not, I'll live lol.
