Darksiders 3: Angry Woman MEGAFLOP

A dead franchise, resurrected, hope rekindled! Only to be shat all over, buried once again, probably forever.

There are other elements worth mentioning, like the way the game length is padded out by the exclusion of an vague in-game map that makes fast travel worthless since you never know where exactly you're going, or the counter-intuitive way letting an enemy kill you is the best option when it comes to replenishing your healing items. But saying any more at this point is just too disheartening. Darksiders 3 retrogrades on its predecessors with an unfocused approach that constantly clashes with itself. There are remnants of a good game here, buried within the vivacious combos of a combat style this game doesn't want to embrace. Unfortunately, it's buried far too deep to ever salvage.

One-on-one combat encounters in open areas offer engaging challenges

Inventive character designs stand out

Battles are fought against a frustrating camera and lock-on system just as much as any enemies

The generic and drab environments aren't enticing to explore

Progression is simplistic and devolves combat into repetition

Platforming and puzzles are dull and few and far between

Numerous technical issues

I'll get this eventually, since I'm a big fan of Darksiders, but not for the full 60-dollar pricetag.

Meh seems like a good summery. From the initial announcement it never captured the public's attention.

Which it too bad, I really enjoyed 1 and especially 2, which people also didn't like lol

Ouch. Well that certainly isn’t encouraging. I really enjoyed the first game and have only played a bit of the second one but it did seem pretty good. With all the great games I still need to get to and more in the future I doubt I’ll be wanting to try this one out any time soon or ever.

Only GS has given it low score. others have given it higher scores.(it has the average of 72)

I like the message reviewers are sending out lately... fix your goddamn bugs! You don't have to fix EVERY bug, just the ones that at least make the damn thing functional.

That's the rub, it's always looked like a "I'll get it on sale" game. I doubt many people will be willing to pay full-price.

Which is odd, when you think about it. Darksiders typically has a ton of content, a solid 20-40 hours worth. Repetitive, but mostly good.

It's still relatively close to Red Dead, which is suicidal. What were dey thinking.

Meh... wasn't expecting much.

Didn't even know this game was coming out this year.

Too much competition.

I got review code over the weekend and started...

and by started, I mean tried the very first fight like 20 times, raged, and stopped playing. it tries to teach you the fighting and platforming during a introductory boss fight, where if you mess up the platforming some unavoidable attack takes away most of your health, and you have very limited healing items to start with

possibly the worst start to a game i've ever encountered. that was on the 2nd of 4 difficulty levels...

I really liked the first two games so this seems like a huge disappointment

Lets see. They didn't see the need to have some sort of presence at E3, they barely advertised or promoted the game and the game from the get go has looked meh.

Tutorials are basically:

Hey, you are either doing what we tell you to do, or we are straight up killing you

I can't tell you how many times I've died in tutorial sections. LMAO

Maybe the game gets more open afterwards ?

Not at all surprised that this franchise has been shown up for what it is. The first one was okay, but I never bothered finishing it. The second, after three times of trying, bored me to tears and lacked just about character, and we really, really, did not need this one.

I will still give it a go at a discount price. I love the first game and the second one has some flaws, but is still good. This one looked troubled from the get go, but had been looking better of late. Ah well, the series was dead prior to Nordic scooping it up. So, can't complain too much. Still, there should have been more care given to ensure a quality product.

As far as I'm concerned there is only one real set of Four Horsemen.

Loved the first two games and the lore of the series so I'll be picking this one up at some point. Darksiders 1 was one of my favorite games of last gen, replayed it on my ps4 a few months ago and yup, still amazing. Its basically the same team Man I,g the third that made the first two so I'm not buying into gamespots review much.

Screw what people think. I never really held people's opinions over the Darksiders series with much regard, i mean people called the first game mediocre and the second game bad, even though I have enjoyed every MINUTE of those games, so given the track record of people having 0 taste in games (and prefer to buy garbage like Battlefield and Fortnite with all the DLCs and microtrasnsactions) why should I care what people have to say about this game? I'm certain this game is gonna be awesome, just like the last two games.

The fact they said they don't know where they're going tells you everything you need to know bout the reviewer, as in if the game doesn't hold their hand they are clueless, stick to Sony's hand holding games me thinks lol

And its funny that so many take Gamespot's reviews as gospel, that's the real 4/10 here.

As for the review: meh, Gamespot is one site among many. And honestly I have loved games they have given 5's and 6's to, so I might find myself liking a game they award a 4.

Same. Love the series, but even I think this looks slightly underwhelming. Seems like a bargain-bin game, which is not outright terrible. It's just I have too many games as it is, this would be an indulgence.
