He just seems harsher is all.
He's not harsher he's actually quite fair and always backs up his opinion even if they are weird at times. Take his problems with Joel, I have no idea where he got the impression that he was shady from, BUT, I can totally see why hating him would hurt the game.
The real problem is that gaming fans have become so focused on 9/10's that giving a game a 7 is like some sort of betrayal when actually, it's them saying "Hey, this game is good but there's a couple of issues, check it out if you're interested!"

i think most of us knew infamous wasn't going to get an AAA. At least on this site. (after McShea was confirmed, at least)

Metal Gear Solid V, I don't know what but i'm sure that Kojima has another cash grabbing tactic up his sleeve considering what he did with the previous 2 games (4 and GZ).
I wouldn't want to see any game get "McShea'd". It's a stupid term anyway in my opinion, as I think Tom McShea is one of the best reviewers on the net. He just doesn't give a sh*t what anybody else thinks, he just reviews the game with his own honest opinion.
Going by TLOU review (8/10 for the most critically acclaimed game of gen 7) and the second chance Bioshock Infinite (4/10 is just a big joke) review I'd say he is stupidly harsh. But then you look at his review of Beyond 2 Souls (9/10 what!) and just realise he has no taste in games.
He's a hipster. What is worse is he's a really unfunny one with no taste. Terrible, terrible journalist. His writing is complete trash as well.

He takes out some parts of the game and ignores others as he see's fit in several of his reviews.
