Yeah honestly would have been interested if it was a single player game but multiplayer focused games don't interest me in the slightest.

Doesn't look like PUBG at all, so not sure how that reference even makes sense.

Honestly, this looks like a downgrade then what I saw from E3 2017 gameplay demo, but then again, that was a pre-alpha gameplay.

I thought after the disappointing sales of Crysis 3, Crytek would actually learn how to make games with actual substance in their hiatus years but apparently not smh. It seems to me that Crytek have lost most of their game developers. Oh well, I guess bankruptcy is inevitable to this company. Bye Crytek, you had a chance to redeem yourself and you blew it away. If Hunt Showdown turns out to be good, I'll admit that I was wrong and they really did came through.

What Crytek have made after Crysis/Warhead have been utter crap. I'm actually pretty comfortable in saying they are currently a shit developer.

I'd gladly buy a good game by Crytek, but they'd have to create it first. With this game... yeah, hopes aren't especially high.

Graphics = Great

Setting = more than great

Shooting = are you kidding me ? Crytek has been making shooters for over a decade and yet what is shown here looks absolutely awful

They didn't pay their developers, so yeah I'm sure many left

They also already went backrup, but were saved (bought) by some other German media company.

@R4gn4r0k: I know they were save by a private company from there bankruptcy but at this point, I would have at least hope Crytek learn something from all of there disappointments and try at least make a really good game. I wanted to see them make something better, maybe not the first Crysis quality game, but something from an actual Crytek game at least. We'll see how Hunt Showdown does and hope I was wrong.

Ah ah. That's the problem with Crytek, chasing things instead of creating their own. Now it looks like they are after PUBG after that complete failure of MMO whose name escapes me.

They chased consoles. Failed. They chased MMO's. Failed. They chased VR. Failed.

Isn't Epic games in a similar situation? They're basically trying to chase the battle royale/survival and MOBA crowds with Fortnite and Paragon.

I forget what MMO was Crytek's? Was it that MOBA game called Arena Of Fate that we haven't heard anything of in forever.

This game will probably help get Crytek out of the predicament they're in, PC gamers lately love eating up games like this. That is probably why this game went from PvE to PvPvE. The only downside I could see to this game flopping is if people treat this like PUBG and solely try to hunt others instead of going after objectives and then complain about the lack of PvP action.

Ironic how Crytek is at the mercy of PC gamers to survive when they thought they could make it big on consoles. Most games using their engine are PC games as well.

@davillain-: If you ask me, Ryse wasn't all that bad. It was an enjoyable but ultimately flawed game and I feel a sequel could've done wonders for a game like Ryse.

If they made a sequel they could:

- make the turret sections fun

- make the testudo sections fun

- improve the combat system

While I was playing Ryse I had all sorts of ideas to make it better, so I can't imagine Crytek had none.

Also Amazon paid Crytek $50 million to license their tech.

@R4gn4r0k: I also enjoy Ryse as well, only because I love Ancient Roman settings & history :)

I also be down for a Ryse 2 if that was the case.

Yeah the Wild West should be their next open level setting since they've already done tropical islands with Far Cry and Crysis and urban environments with Crysis 2/3. A desert setting would be nice. With that type of environment Crytek can easily amp the graphics super high and still have the game be reasonable in specs since not much is in a desert unlike a tropical environment were there is so much foliage everywhere. If they had made an old western game they could of possibly tapped into the PC market that highly demands Red Dead Redemption.

But I feel like there would have to be some sort of twist to keep up with the Crytek tradtion. Far Cry started off with fighting mercenaries than revealed mutant enemies. Crysis started off with North Korean soldiers and slowly shifted to aliens. Maybe if they made a Old West FPS they could of gave it a twist with the setting they're using Hunt: Showdown.

Yup same here, though the combat may have gotten repetitive (again, this is something a sequel could improve) I absolutely loved the setting and playing as a roman centurion.

I get the fps and bad shooting, but besides that I think you're all insane. This is easily one of coolest looking games I've seen in years. The e3 night demo looked better than this one in the daylight, but the theme, the graphics, actually have to listen and pay attention to the world, the freaking ass spider...and barbed wire grenades!

I've actually watched a few developer streams of this and there's just way too much going on. It's a battle royale with PvE tossed in and not for the better. It shares a lot of of the same issues that plagued and quickly overwhelmed Evolve.

On a positive note, the game's style is cool.

Wait is Crytek really notorious for creating disappointing games? Because for me the game idea really looks promising.

They haven't made anything good since 2008. So they should be.

Some people actually like the Crysis sequels and Ryse. But for those who like good games, Crytek has done nothing but dissapoint since 2008.

graphically looks great, however I would prefer it had a single player portion.

Its online, on a massive map, and you gotta search for shit and kill other players.

as someone said, PUBG with super natural vibes

Ok, the graphics and atmosphere, of the area and time it takes place in, look ace in this game.

But you can't say that shooting looks any kind of fun ?

It's like some developers first attempt at making a shooter... Only you realise it's Crytek and they have made a dozen shooters already :/

I wasn't remotely serious dude. And according to the posts in this thread It's Crytek in name only. All their devs have left this studio, so maybe it is many of the staffs first try at an FPS.

Could very well be, the game still looks beautiful though !

I guess graphics wear off, but good gameplay sticks.

With the amount of time it takes to work on a game, there's no way they saw PUBG this year and then created a game in response. That's impossible with a game of this caliber. Hunt Showdown seems like a more refined version of Evolve.

For goodness sake, PUBG is not original and did not invent any of its ideas.

Also, it's nothing like PUBG except for killing other players.

PUBG doesn't have any NPCs or AI, whatsoever. PUBG doesn't have perpetual loot that you keep outside of the game. PUBG doesn't focus on one team getting away with loot; you can win a PUBG game by not even killing any players if you are lucky enough.

I have an inkling that everyone saying it's like PUBG has never even played PUBG.

Saying such things is like saying Darksiders is the same as God of War.

Gaming journalism and reviewing is even worse. Any game with any sort of challenge/difficulty these days immediately gets compared to it. I'm starting to think that anyone that immediately compares a game to Soulsborne has never played a difficult game before it.
