Crysis 3:
Horizon Zero Dawn:
Both look really good but I'll take HZD any day. Just looks more beautiful and vibrant.
I can agree with that sentiment and although I didn't bother comparing them, I would bet HZD has more advanced graphical effects at play. Perks of coming out 4 years later. Crysis 3 is no slouch and to this day is still a looker which speaks volume about the talent Crytek has technically/artistically.
Crysis 3 has better textures(except for clothing. It looks kind of terrible), but it's way older as far as tech and games go, so the lighting and other advancements have come a long way. Why is this even a comparison?

yep comparing two games from different gens
Giving the fact I played both Crysis 3 PC & Horizon: Zero Dawn. I'll take Zero Dawn over Crysis 3 since it was downgrade for consoles at the time and Zero Dawn just looks so beautiful, even it looks amazing on my launch PS4 without the Pro's goodies. The only thing Crysis 3 has going for is realistic looks and doesn't even compare to the first Crysis game.
Horizon: Zero Dawn FTW.
Crysis 3 looks brilliant, but i'll stand by Horizon being artistically better. Hell, I bet it even has some more advanced graphical effects in play, just due to Crysis 3 being an older title. No matter how you look at it, Horizon was a testament to artistic and technical talent.
Horizon's has to be more fun to play than Crysis 3 which isn't a very long game, it's linear and everything you see in a few screenshots is pretty much the entire map since everything looks the same. It's pretty but little substance. The environment designs make you wish you could explore but they're small and not a lot to see really.
First of all both games are 4 years apart so it's rather unfair comparison.
But still if we look at technicalities then crysis 3 at its time of release was way ahead than any other game released that year.
As for horizon while technically it's one of the best looking games of 2017 so far but is not THE best as it doesn't ring every bells and whistles in graphics department to be considered graphically superior to any other release this year such as mass effect Andromeda or wildlands or even upcoming ac origins. It goes side by side but doesn't reign supreme as crysis 3 did in 2013. Again we're looking both games at their respective time period to determine which was technically better.
Artistically though horizon looks better imo. But then again artistically ori and the blind forest is the best I've seen in video games graphics. It really depends on how you look at it.
Is Horizon console graphics king or graphics king peroid? Or am I delusional?
As much as we laugh at the CGK title, i'd admit it's probably the best looking game on consoles. I played it on the Pro, but performance is damn similar on the OG PS4 and it's great looking to boot. There were some detractors, such as sparse scenery (for the most part), but the actual environments and lighting were damn good.
Horizon artistically for sure for me. Technically is harder to tell and I'll say both are probably close in technical prowess. Although it is really impressive what Guerrilla Games achieved with relatively weak hardware but then again Crysis devs had to work with more varied hardware configurations and so they couldn't focus so much on optimization.

Watch Dogs 2 also beats it out in terms of technical graphics. The artistic quality is better in HZD, though.
