I prefer Europa Universalis, but i also like the Crusader Kings franchise, i will get it but later.

Glad it's reviewing well, and it's on my list. But I don't see what its success has to do with consoles. Half the consolites on here pretend strategy doesn't exist or isn't worthwhile whenever the PC vs console argument comes up. Doubt they believe this in a serious sense - but if they don't care about the genre then it doing well on PC isn't going to ruffle their feathers now will it?

So now IGN scores don't matter? Fanboys, pfft.

Good on them. Not a game I would probably buy, but one I strongly appreciate.

To those that might not understand, the appeal of Crusader Kings is actually similar to EVE Online; a game I probably wouldn't play myself, but love reading about. This is a sequel to the game where you can do things like turning your 17 year old daughter into a honeytrap to seduce and murder your rivals, get killed in an accident and have to play as a 3 year old toddler, pick up the Lunatic trait, name your horse your chancellor, make turnips your national currency, and run naked through a party screaming that you're on fire, and torture someone by reading bad poetry to them.

So yeah, like EVE Online, it's a true sandbox where you can role-play, mess around, and craft stories with almost no limits. A rare achievement in gaming that deserves recognition, even if it's not your thing.

Paradox is such an acclaimed Publisher & Dev for these 4x games. Hope their Next project is EU V, been 7 years since the last.

I'm glad this game is getting excellent scores - Crusader Kings 2 is an incredibly tough act to follow, and I was worried this game might be too cut down or simplified.

I really can't wait to sink a few hundred hours into this one, starting tomorrow. Hopefully they keep supporting it with ridiculous amounts of content for 8 years, like they did with the previous game.

Crusader Kings is one of the most respected strategy franchises out there!

I do prefer Europa Universalis and Hearts of Iron myself. Not a fan of the RPG elements of Crusader Kings.

As far as RPGs go, this one absolutely destroys your favorite RPG in the actual ROLEPLAYING aspect. Unless your favorite RPG is a tabletop one. Then you win!

Awesome. I'm seriously reconsidering fixing and upgrading my pc. All I need is a new power supply to get it working again. Maybe something to do this weekend. I was going to hold off, but man crusader kings is an amazing series.

Is a good thing that it is exclusive for PC,i don't think the 9.2TF PS5 hell even the mighty 12TF powerful xbox Series X can run this game.

Even though this is another great PC exclusive (one amongst quite a few recently) I doubt many console gamers will care. This game will just confuse and anger them, and they'll wonder why PC gamers are excited over a game that doesn't have flashy visuals.

Some people care about scores so the nature of this thread is fitting.

Thankfully you are wrong, Crusader Kings 2 sold somewhere between 2-5 million copies on Steam alone. And was one of the most actively played, up until now, with thousands of simultaneous players. Years after the game launched. Peaking around 10-12k simultaneous users on steam per day.

If the game was the bees knees, then gamers would be playing it everywhere as when you, I, any gamer plays a game we really like we tell our friends who buy it and tell their friends and so on.

Hundreds of millions of PC out there and it sold a couple of million YAY.

Paradox games are not anything like mobile games. They are deep and complex strategy games that have zero casual appeal.

You have to realize these games (Paradox Interactive Strategy Games) are also extremely complicated. And thus will not reach max appeal. But still get the appreciation of those who dont even play the games.

Thankfully I hear this one is more accessible, while not really dumbing down much. No mana... for instance.

For people who like depth, the you can't go wrong with Paradox Interactive.

The game is pretty famous actually among the players. Hey even Jackscepticeye had made a video about it. Not sure if he will make a complete playthrough, but hey, if even a casual youtuber with 20M subs knows about it, then it's pretty popular.

Great looking game and I like that whole type of game, but it's mostly a PC genre overall. Definitely doesn't show anything other than it's a popular genre and they killed it. I watched a video earlier and I'm considering a purchase.

This, along with many other genres were never dead my freind, they just for the most part never get covered beyond the usual 2-3 titles, this being one of them.

I played it for a couple of hours this morning. I started conquering some of my central African neighbours, then miscalculated and lost half of my council in a single battle. Which is totally fine, because my countess is a master diplomat who can use the befriend scheme to fill out the empty positions with 25+ stat characters that I invite to my court.

I love the new skill trees. I'm intrigued by the new men-at-arms system. It also seems significantly more accessible than CK2, while still being one of the deepest games on the market.

So...yeah, it's really good.

He was one of the more active users here for years, super cool dude, and was way more into actual video game discussion/debate than most people here. Really, was a great guy to have on this forum, loved going back and forth with him about MGS, NG, SF, etc.

I have no idea what kind of content he runs these days, haven't seen his channel since he was starting up. I'm guessing he does whatever generates the most traffic, but he's definitely not a "casual" lol.
