While Crackdown was revealed for Xbox One during Microsoft's E3 2014 press conference, it was shown using a CGI trailer that left us wondering what we could expect from the game. We've now discovered that Microsoft showed an early tech demo for the game in April during Microsoft's annual Build conference.

When asked for comment by a fan, Phil Spencer verified that this was Crackdown in the following via twitter.

The Crackdown trailer may have been CG, but it also shows a high level of destructibility in the world and the tech demo gives us a good idea of what we can expect. However, no release date has been announced for Crackdown at this time. During the Build conference Microsoft said the goal is for developers to use the power of the cloud to "enable new kinds of experiences that have never been possible" by way of rendering events for players faster.

LINK

No more excuses, guise! The proof is in the fully destructible pudding.

After watching the tech demo then the Crackdown trailer again, I appreciate it more and it's exciting to see the potential. I could now imagine to do the crazy stuff they did in the trailer too but even more crazier. I remember just farting around in the Crackdown games and it was so fun making things explode. Now with what seems to be destructible environments, this game is going to be badass.

GGI...nothing the Xflop can actually handle. Nothing to see here folks. The Cloud is a joke...even Microsoft avoid using that word at E3.

Even though this is BS, even if it was true, you would have to have a constant working internet connection for this to work so if your internet goes down then what?

@comptonst88: if the internet goes doWn then it will switch to 2 fps and everything freezes .

The xboner is a weak piece of crap that will rely on cloud server. These lemmings are paying for an unreliable cloud service and a weak local system (xbone). That video proved it.

In the right hands this could yield some really interesting results. Cows can laugh all they want, but I've a feeling they're going to change their tune if/when Sony utilizes Gaikai's resources for something similar. I think cloud services for games will probably most take off under an OnLive like setup anyways, which is what Gaikai is supposed to be to deliver BC to the PS4. Once that door opens, I think we'll see more of this non-localized processing.

I've a feeling though this won't just be pursued because of what it can offer, but I think companies want probably want to see what kind of pay structure they can demand from consumers for such a service. Just imagine if MS or Sony end up having 50 million consoles sold and everyone is paying that $50 - $60 for XBLG or PS+ to get use of the non-localized cloud resources for games. That's $2.5 - $3 billions in revenues per year. That's big money.

This is a I will believe it when I see it. I am not going to totally discount the possibility that this could be good technology; however I am not holding my breath. If it works out, it could benefit every platform.

That's cool and all but I don't want games to rely on the internet to run well. :/ They should just need the hardware alone imo.

At least bloodborne isn't a sequel to an average game,Crack down on its 2 chapters wasn't high rated,in fact the second one was quite mediocre.

Still waiting for a demonstration that isn't a CGI montage and that isn't running in 'ideal/perfect conditions' which isn't a true representation of how it will work in the real world. Show me real world and I'll eat crow.

As fun as crackdown is and I may get it in time, you can't really call out cows for crying I mean have you seen the graphics what are coming out of that PS4.

FanBoy or no FanBoy, there isn't anything which is rivaling Uncharted 4 visually (which has been confirmed by several sources including naughty dog developer Corrine Yu, that the trailer was of in game visuals and not a CGI trailer.) or even The Order 1886, and that CGI trailer of Crackdown wasn't really that good visually, GTA5 remastered looked better.

I think cloud tech is interesting but MS seems to be shoving this down the throats of every Xbox player with almost no back up to what it really does it if it will work, sorry but until we see a real representstion it seems MS are trying to hype features that won't wven be available until like 2 -3 years (ie direct x 12)

Is that all?

May want to see it in action in a released game as an actual feature to really know anything. I'm skeptical about the importance of cloud computing in gaming with today's bandwidth speed limits.

I actually think Nintendo won this E3. They were still announcing more games at the show after their Direct Feed and they all looked very good. They made me actually want a Wii U even more now. Hopefully sales will pick up some now.
