Its almost like you can play the game through other means besides purchasing.
Didn't stop Forza Horizon 4 from having respectable retail sales.
Of course, the industry was very different back then. Xbox 360 was the market leading console, digital sales were not as significant as they are today (again, only physical is counted here) and Crackdown 3 will likely have picked up a fair few users via the Xbox Game Pass subscription service (which isn't included here).
Microsoft: We want crackdown to be one of the great pillars of Xbox like Gears and Halo
sells 4k
wtf man
Game Pass isn't a sale. Anyway, hope MS is ready for that future where they're giving away their AAA games that no one wants for $2 subscriptions, because that's the precedent they've set for themselves. Phil's gonna turn these studios he bought into sweathouses, releasing crap trying to force a regular stream of content to justify subs.
More concerned about FC: New Dawn being number one tbh. Don't people have any self control!?
It only sold 13 percent of what Far Cry 5 did. So, yeah?

Well I guess that's nice. Wonder if Feb is just a slow month
Expected. Even Xboners know it's trash and not worth full retail price.
It's not even in the top 50 played XB1 games in its launch week despite being free on GamePass.

Its really sad, because Game Pass didnt effect any of F Horizon and Forza sells at all, but wow does CD 3 numbers very embarrassing
Some brave souls that paid full price for this...lol. This is the perfect type of game to play on Game Pass.
I think we all saw this coming, it's part of the Game Pass for a reason and everyone who followed Crackdown 3 knew this game was gonna flop hard. So the sells shouldn't be a shocker to anyone unless you are a hardcore Xbox fan.

I'm playing New Dawn and I rather play that then Crackdown 3. What's so bad about it? I am really enjoying it. I love all the changes and the graphics look fantastic and it's Rage 2 in a way. I find those two Albino Blacks women to be interesting so this game sold me more then Crackdown 3.

It's part of Gamepass because they've been saying exclusives will be on GP day 1.
@lundy86_4: agreed. Also meant microsoft able to spin mediocre games in positive light.
Yep. Now they can justify releasing bad games by saying "its only $10 a month". Game pass gives them less incentive than ever to make quality games.

You're gonna need a pretty big tinfoil hat.
Hey I'd love them to prove me wrong. More good games is always welcome.

Definitely is. MS shat the bed this gen, but the heavy move to obtain solid devs could pay off... If they closed down something like Obsidian, the backlash would be huge lol.

I don't know whether GamePass stuff shows up there or if MS even knows how to update their lists. But if true....

And people wonder why the quality of these games are they way the are.
I explained this, so I'll post this here again.
There are only 2 ways a game rental services can work!
1. (Sony's way) Release past generation and 3 to 4 year old current generation AAA games once they've stopped selling and get almost no profit or push to console sales.
That allows for AAA development of high profile titles without worrying about cutting budget which produces very high quality games for now and years later for rental service.
2. (MS's way) Release everything day 1!
This means the rental service would servery cut into development costs which will effect recouping the initial funding of the project if it's a multi-million AAA Budget. To counteract this repercussion, all AAA budgets are SLASHED to indie levels but quality is severely affected as a result.
The way MS has GamePass setup is a self for it's exclusives is defeating for people who care about quality games.
Games pass is a great service for low selling and old 3rd party games (same as PSNow) but MS having their high profile exclusives come day one on such a service comes at a price.
Gamepass is not great, it never can be. AAA games cost too much, gamepass would never compensate that.

Doling out games with 50 million dollar production costs (before marketing) on $2 2-month Game Pass subs. What can go wrong?
Not going to say it's a big disappointment but I'm sure ms are looking at gamepass subscriptions. Interesting to see how many people subscribed to play this game.
On amazon it's dropped £6 over night already.

Those cheap passes won't be permanent. They're designed to get people into GP. They'll probably throw them out every so often (probably before a big IP drops) in order to drum up interest, but that'll be about the extent.

MS's insistence on pushing GamePass on every user and this all-in-streaming service with this monthly reoccurring fees strikes me as an effort to remove their responsibility to have to make games at all.
I mean, once they've gotten everyone to buy into this streaming/gamepass BS and the only way we can access our games is by signing up for one of their services, what incentive is there for them to actually spend money to make their own games?
Getting guaranteed money every month without having to lift a finger or expend any resources of their own in the process?
There is no incentive! Then the other companies will follow and then gaming will stagnate and die! THE END!
People, or rather gamers, are too willing to give MS the benefit of doubt when it comes to their "goals" for these services. Has MS shown any great desire to produce that absolute best games anyone has ever played in the past? Reeeeaaaalllly think about that. The problem is people undiservingly credit MS with the same "vision" for gaming that Sony and Nintendo have simply because they are a console provider.
"Naturally if MS has more money from services, they will produce more and higher quality games...like Sony and Nintendo!"
Problem is MS is not Sony or Nintendo and their "vision" for gaming doesn't appear to be anything like traditional console providers of the pa$t.

The problem is, MS does these deals whenever one of their first party games drops. Once people bought the sub just to play that game, what's keeping them there? Is the incentive hoping enough whales stay subbed to play the old games on the service, hoping they don't bail out when the month is up? It seems less sustainable than any movie streaming service. It's MS's cash to burn I guess. They've been doing it on Xbox this long.

That's exactly how they work. MS needs to work on their service and game, no doubt... I have Origin Premier and i'm playing Anthem a week early, as well as a multitude of other games. MS have been moving this way for a while, and the business model (whilst in its infancy,) seemingly works. MS might even go the EA route and offer premium services, if they can get enough pubs/devs on board beside themselves.
Plus, I already touched (another thread) on the amount of people who subscribe to monthly shit on their CC and just never check their monthly charges... I've seen people pay for a year or two, and completely forget they subscribed to something. In the gaming industry, it's why we saw some subscription services turn on auto-renewal automatically.
