@superfluousreal: It's all in the eye of the beholder. I prefer controller because I'm used to it, and that it feels a little more authentic. I'm not a fan of being able to whip around instantly without consideration for some kind of weight. That doesn't mean I want a nonsense turn speed like in kz2, but a little effort is appreciated.

I also don't like the idea of having kb/m playing against controllers. Or even stock controllers playing against high end ones. An even playing field is what I want, but that is unrealistic.

I am completely against people using KB/M vs controller users, if i am an example like many good players.. there is absolutely no chance of landing a single shot, but also that does depend on the game being played, a person in a tank in Battlefield with a controller would most likely still whip my butt even if i am using KB/M as a foot soldier.

Anything that involves aiming will always be better on M/K but hey I'm not telling anything you already don't know.

I recently gave Resident Evil 2 Remake a good try with my controller to have the opportunity to play while laying in my bed. Gave it a good couple of hours until i stopped, because it was shit. Switched to what i usually play shooters with - my mouse/keyboard setup, instantly felt immensely satisfying because of the accuracy; Felt like i was actually in control this time.

Stuff like Yakuza and Devil May Cry, sure, i'll gladly switch to my gamepad. But games that demand accurate pointing? Damn, does it feel like shit.

That is strange, RE2 is a game i would use controllers for, not bought it yet, then again i disliked 7.

All the speedrunners use mouse and keyboard. That should tell you which is superior for that specific game.

To be fair, I did use my Xbox Elite while playing RE2 Remake and it's a 3rd-person-shooter which feels neutral to me, but I sure as hell did use KB/M for RE7 cause their was no way I'm using a controller for that game. All in all, whatever feels good to the player is all that matters.

Always try to see which works best with KB/M or Controller.

KB/M will obviously be superior. Though, I do prefer to sit back and play with a controller.

@davillain-: Haha playing RE7 with a controller was scary as hell because not only is the movement slow but I couldn't get hit anything consistently.

I had some friends over to co-op it so controller in the living room on the HTPC was a better choice.

It works fine on consoles, and given that everyone else is using them means in MP that nobody has a competitive edge aside from their natural talent.

Basically all fighters, racers, platformers, action adventure, rpg, better with controller

Mmo, rts, strategy better with kb/m

Some fps are better kb mouse, UT, Quake, Counterstrike, mainly twitch shooters, halo and gears are better with controller imo

Controller is fine for games with less precision; the Spider-Mans, Batman: Arkham games, Assassin's Creed, sports games, and maybe driving sims, and so forth.

Everything else is better with KB+M; shooters (first or third person), city-building, strategy (turn-based, real-time, etc), management games, etc.

With that said, I've got a M+KB adapter for my PS4 and Horizon: Zero Dawn is 5x more enjoyable to me than with controller.

Fair enough, but I'd prefer the field be open rather than even, at least for now. A decent player with controller will beat a mediocre player on KB+M.

I really, really, really want to see cross-platform play happen on the next generation of consoles with PC. If Xbox and PS4 don't want it with eachother, that's fine, but PS4 and PC or Xbox and PC? Let it happen.

We can worry about the logistics of controllers and KB+ and what's fair later.

I've always preferred keyboard and mouse for FPS games, and a Playstation or Saturn controller for anything else. However, back in the day, I was able to play Halo on the OG Xbox "Duke" and the controller S, which was much better, games like Resident Evil 4 (Not a shooter, I know) were fine with a PS2 or GC controller, and even Vanquish (Third person) was fun with a PS3 controller. Preference doesn't mean I won't play on pad. In fact, I still use a PS4 controller on my PC for non FPS games. A Hat in Time is great on a DS4 for example.

It's really not that big a deal at all IMO... I think it's actually somewhat easier than keyboard and mouse IMO.

Tried using a kb/m on bf5 at a friends, and in was all over the place. Have no idea how I used to keep the dang crosshairs in the middle of the screen. So used to controllers now, I couldn't go back.

Depends on which game you're playing. ;)

Someone would probably do just fine with low dpi in a game like Squad or Escape from Tarkov. Don't need to be so fast in games like those.

Matter of having standards really.

Loads of people play games on touch screens and are happy with it. Same goes for controllers. Can't think of any game that would work better with a controller to be honest. But then i don't play race or fighter games but those probably work better with a racewheel and joystick.

Once you get used to keyboard and mouse controllers feel unplayable.

I will be serious and not troll, i find it hard to play a serious shooter with a controller.

I have the same problem.

When it comes to shooters, I can't do them on a controller... UNLESS, that controller (and the game) supports motion controls. This is why the only console shooter I play and enjoy is Splatoon. However, there's not a lot of console games that give us this option, so there's a handful of them that I will only play on PC.

Steam Controller is almost as good as M//K when it comes to SP FPS.

Trackpad + Gyro makes all the difference.
