Contra demo

Anyone played it? I just did... The game isn't as bad as I thought it'd be but it's no GOTY either... If you've played housemarques game Dead Nation you'll feel right at home.... Its not as deep or as satisfying as Alienation though.

Also, the demo is only a single level and cuts you off before what appears to be a boss fight.

Anyone try it? I played it on switch. Thoughts?

Dead Nation is my favourite Playstation game ever. Now I'm interested.

@Litchie: it doesn't have a loot system like alienation does. It's all power ups... But the moment to moment action is dead nation. Shoot the car a few times and the red ring forms around it... Hordes of weaklings rushing you while bots and baddies fire heavier weapons around the periphery...isometric.

Graphically it's looks very low budget but I can see how it could be fun.

Looks fun to me I will have to try it out.

Should have hired to the gods who gifted us Broforce.

I downloaded it for the Xbox One but haven’t tried it yet, too busy with Monster Hunter World: Iceborne these days. I have checked out some videos on it and can’t say that I’m at all impressed by it. I’ll just stick with the Contra Collection for my Contra fix.

Have to say it doesn't really look like Contra, but it looks a lot better than Battletoads... I'll likely give it a shot. I have beat the first 3 Contra games (1,2,3 not force) hundreds of times. Back in the day I actually took a video with an old camcorder of me beating Contra and Super C with the controller upside down and backwards behind my back without losing a life on either game... I guess you could say I played them a bit.. lol.

Nostalgia tells me to give this new one a try, so why not.. for old times sake.

Got to check out this demo. Everyone was ragging on this game on reveal because of graphics or whatever, but soon as I saw it was a twin-stick shooter I put it on my radar. Comparisons to Dead Nation are certainly nice to hear.

@getyeryayasout: first blush... First level demo, it was big ridiculous action. Gameplay isn't overly tight and the jumping mechanic is kinda odd from this perspective, buuuut..... You can do the alienation dash.

I wouldn't say it's as polished as housemarque games maybe, but they definitely lifted lots of ideas from the nation games.

I think the game looks fun but I'm very disappointed that this is where they took the franchise. I just think they could have made this game into a different IP or a spin-off and given us a new classic contra.

Nope. Still doesn't interest me. When I think Contra, I think nods to '80's shoot 'em up movies from Stallone and Schwarzenegger.

Hoping SNK has a new Metal Slug in mind (still never played those games) with this mentality.

Not to sound like a broken record, but that's Broforce, it's literally Contra perfected and expanded with modern design.

Pretty much a masterpiece.

Played through the demo beginning to end. My interest level is very low... this is Contra in name only unfortunately. Not a terrible game, but not worthy of the Contra name either...

@WitIsWisdom: it's definitely not going to bring a ton of nostalgia to anyone looking for it. It's an iso, twin stick action game with a classic license.
