This is probably the sickest game-demo I have seen in a long time😯! MS is launching their new PC with tons of AI (naturally). But this is GPT4o meaning instead of a boring text chatbot you can talk with it normally. For example when playing a game.

As if gaming wasn't casual enough 😅! Do you want this or not?

Edit: Google wants to show they too can do this. Here is Gemini 1.5 helping with Mario 64.

I find this kind of stuff disgusting. I buy a game to play the game, which means that there no guides or backseating involved. All this unneeded help is very babybitch mode to me.

And people complain that there's too much talking and handholding in games already.

SW is not easily impressed! It’s still pretty sick how the model ”understands” what is happening on the screen. I agree that it’s not really what you want from a game though.

Even if it doesn’t help you, it would still be immersion breaking.

But I guess it could be cool in a game like Assassin’s Creed if you wanted to learn a bit more about one of the hostorical buildings/persons 🤔? Or perhaps in a big RPG if you forgot about some of the plot?

I want Uninspiredcup to come over to my house, bring his VR headset and play HL Alyx for me.

That is also worth to keep in mind! I remember Google had an AI demo a while back that was almost entirely staged.

So it’s good to stay critical

@SolidGame_basic: bro, it's 'just GOES to show...', not 'just COMES to show'

pretty funny saying that PC gamers need help in something... yet you can't even get your own remark right. haha

In overly complex games I can see that being extremely helpful... Even as plimented in tutorial levels to help player understand the game... Outside that, I don't really want an Ai spoon feeding me the solutions to my purchase.

Yeah, I could have used AI to help me with inventory managment and shipbuilding in Starfield!

As for tutorials, one thing in particular I think would be great is when you come back to a game after a long pause. I usually have forgoten a lot of the mechanics and the story etc. It would be awesome if you can just ask an AI assistant to get you back to speed.

It would be quite helpful in many situations.

I'd be interested in knowing the type of guardrails would be applied. You clearly don't want to give away information that should only be available later in the game etc.

Same... That's a great idea. Minimize the rust with a quality Ai to help bring you back into the game.

I wouldn't use this for gaming, but the tech is very impressive. Could be useful in many other situations, like doing taxes or legal research.

This is for lonely people. Not bad, but also not a replacement for real friends.

Once again, it's very impressive technology but it is either put into effect too quickly to regulate correctly, or put into effect in the wrong application.

I'm not necessarily anti-AI or anything like that, I'm just pro-asking-"yo should we really be doing this?"
