Chile approves Microsoft/Activision deal

Approved with no concessions. It seems many of the "smaller" countries are approving with some of the bigger regions doing extra checks on it

The faster they acquire CoD, the fast Halo as a whole will be retired. If you're a lem, there's no winning for you.

I'm pretty sure Russia and North Korea will say no, so the deal is unlikely...

I don't understand what is going on tbh. Does every country on earth need to have a say? What leverage does Chile have other than preventing MS from doing business in their country which would hurt Chile way more than MS.

Microsoft probably offered them a free upgrade to Windows 98.

IIRC they filed with a certain number of regulators.. IF a regulator says no and MS loses in court then MS/ACTI can not act as a single unit in that country and/or can not sell games in that region.

That makes sense 🤔. So I guess these countries can't stop the deal just make it less appealing. But some legislative body in the US has the power to actually stop it?

So we have Saudi Arabia, Brazil, and now Chile who have all approved MS/Activision acquisition. As of now, am I missing any others so far?

Wish the whole thing would just hurry up and get over with.

I actually want this deal to go through just to see how it unfolds.

I want it to go through so Raven Software and Toys for Bob can make their own games.

I also want a StarCraft RPG

Playing MW2 on Steam, nearly every one of my teammates are on Playstation consoles.

Sony is going to be on suicide watch.

not to "stop" it just prevent it from operating in the US as an entity (which is huge so they would probably fight it or walk away)
