http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2016/09/16/cd-projekt-red-no-plans-witcher-3-ps4-pro-support/

DEV (CDPR) was tooting up being massively for the gamer...and yet gamers won't be able to use the extra horsepower in the ps pro to play witcher 3 at higher settings or smoother framerates.

A patch wouldn't even take too long to create as we've already seen smaller devs like naughty dog, WB games are doing some Pro patches for older games like uncharted 4, and shadows of mordor.

Ask yourself who really is for the gamer here. Naughy dog is making pro patch for uncharted 4 free of charge that leave me thinking CDPR is not a top tier dev anymore. If these other devs are bringing there games up to speed for the pro why can't CDPR?

I hope Sony is looking into this and is telling this developer to get out a pro patch just doesn't seem right to continue to sell a game to people that should run better on their system.

A Pro version of witcher 3 would probably just make me skip the steam version and snatch it up on ps4 pro instead since I love the dual shock 4 and hate playing with a bunch of add ons to get it to work with my PC.

Sony owns Naughty Dog. CDPR has to pay for the patch to go through approval and quality assurance. I get why they aren't patching it. It sucks but I get it.

They got better things to do like work on new games instead of milking their fans with remasters like Sony first party studios.

Lol, a God tier developer does one tiny thing you dont like, and you pretty much want to bump them down to EA and Konami level.

A patch for the pro isnt even a big deal. Not even the smallest suggestion of a big deal. This is the polar opposite of a big deal.

Threads like these hurt the sony fans more than they help them.

Maybe Sony should drop the fee for the patch. That may sway more developers to jump on board with the patches.

Not every favorite title will get the Pro upgrade. It's that simple.

What does CDPR gain from making a pro patch? Sounds to me like you're damage controlling for the Pro continuing to be more and more of a pointless "upgrade" by the day.

They have absolutely no obligation to update their game with a "Pro" patch. They're better off utilizing their resources elsewhere like a new game.

It's like Re-Launching a game and giving it more pizzaz it could maybe turn some heads from people who didn't buy it.

It could generate some more big buzz and create some big sales for ps pro owners who didn't have a ps4 or didn't have witcher 3 yet.

I think Dying Light did something like this with an Ultimate edition relaunch that gave the game better tuning and all the DLC don't see why they wouldn't wanna do it with their GOTY winning game.

I don't see it doing that at all. It would still be the same exact game only with better graphics. If someone wasn't already interested enough to play it by now then a slight resolution or framerate bump is not going to change that.

dude honestly. CDPR isn't exactly a high budget studio. You should know this.

Now they need stop selling the game ? If this is all it takes to make you ignore all the other content they've put into their game and consider the game as not worthy of being sold...then I don't even..know where to start .

Seek help.

You want to skip the steam version because you like to play with the DS4 ?

I can play The Witcher 3 with any damn controller I want DS4 included on PC. It's one fricken download and you can play with the DS4. Didn't even take me 5 mins to set up.

  1. They aren't obligated to do anything.
  2. They have resources dedicated to other projects.
  3. It's not a high priority for them.
  4. It has to go through Sony's validation processes before being release (time + money).

Choose any or all of the above.

I kind of wanted to see it running on the Pro. I'm sure they'll do it, just not at launch. Least possible scenario: they remaster the game for Pro and Scorpio to promote Cyberpunk.

Seems like they don't want to waste resources for few extra bucks. They will have to deal with yet another platform and keep patching the game until all the bugs are ironed out. Instead of that, they are putting their resources into Cyberpunk 2077's development.

Now microsoft is going to pay big money to patch it for the scorpio.

IF that would happen with most games , then sony is simply going to get slaughtered.

or it is of course psvr is a great success.

Yeah... even though it'd be cool to have a patch for it once I get Scorpio, I understand why CDPR won't bother. The game looks great as it is anyway.

Imagine how awesome Cyberpunk will look on Scorpio/Pro.

Witcher 3 has come and gone, no need for them to do a patch for it. Some of these patches I don't understand like Shadows of Mordor I think PS4 Pro needs good support from recently released or upcoming games and games still in development which can actually take advantage of what it has to offer from the ground up.

Buying a PS4 Pro to revitalise your existing PS4 games is bound to be a disappointment and not really the point of the console at all. I don't anticipate many patches providing 60fps boosts either since they've done so little to the original CPU which I think is actually going to haunt them. They should have gone for a slightly more expensive machine ($450 maybe?) and sorted out the CPU and added a 4K bluray player as well it all seems a bit half hearted even for a mid-gen upgrade.

You've linked a known troll site to tell the obvious? Yes, consoles made witcher 3 possible, but CDPR still loves their hermit children the most despite them being very bad kids (stealing games).

No, its not "re-launching" a game. People buy a remaster with new money. Devs make new revenue. CDPR paying Sony a fee to patch the game so people that already own it can benefit puts no income into CDPR.

A business isn't going to take the fee loss for "it COULD generate some more buzz". They need a guarantee of some money back.

pretty much, if Sony wants to give third party developers free passes on PS4 Pro patch upgrade certifications then maybe other devs might consider it, I can still see why other devs just might not want to bother anyways, it's not going to squeeze any extra sales performance out of games and they're probably busy anyways with development of other upcoming games

anyhow, this is also a reason they said third parties might charge for upgrade patches, to cover development and certification costs

Lets face it, the PS4 Pro can't handle it. Not even a 980Ti can play Witcher 3 at 4K maxed. Hell the Titan X can only just hit 60fps 4K maxed...

So, the better hardware in Pro needs patch to yield better results? LMAO. I definitely don't need any patch when I buy a new CPU or GPU to increase graphics fidelity or performance. CONsoles trying their best to imitate PC and failing at every step.
