Reports state that they have a version of Resident Evil 7 running smoothly in docked mode. Capcom stated that the RE Engine has to be re-worked to seamlessly switch between two different performance modes. Capcom says it will be a challenge, they “would like to put in the effort to achieve it.”

why? it's already on PC, PS4, XB1, and if someone doesn't have such a game by now then they're probably not interested

The more engines that support the Switch, the better. Interested to see what other projects they have in works with the RE Engine.

They currently have multiple unannounced games being developed on the RE Engine.

One of the reasons I don't have RE7 is due to saving money to get a Switch.

If the game is discounted on the Switch I'll buy it. If it's full price then I'll pass.

It's possible this might be their new engine going forward for multiple projects. So it would make sense to put it on as many platforms as possible.

hmm, that makes more sense, that way when they make another game on the same engine it's all ready to go for the Switch

I'm pretty sure they asked Nintendo to make the Switch have 4gb of memory purely for this reason.

I hope this happens. Resident Evil 7 is a phenomenal game. Everyone should be able to play it if they want, Switch owners included.

@Rikusaki:

Loading Video...

Low-Med Settings/1366X768

With FRAPS: 28-45FPS

Whitout FRAPS: 40-60FPS

GPU: GeForce 920 MX ("Maxwell GM108", 548.9 GFLOPS FP32).

Switch's IGP should be able to play games that runs on GeForce 920 MX. Additional optimizations would be needed for dock mode.

@lamprey263: absolutely not! My Switch gets used more on the go away from home, like work. I play online games at home, most single player games I've played and purchased I've gotten bored/side tracked and left to go play online games with my friends.

My Switch though different story I don't play online games and can play short bursts of single player games in downtime at work. I will def get RE7 for the Switch

as others have said optimizing=nerf. Still this strategy is used for several android/iphone games sometimes with outstanding results.

Anyways , Switch starving for such games so thats awesome news imo. The results of this port though might not be ideal compared to other systems. We will see , i like Capcoms decision whatever the case.

@AzatiS: It wont matter, this year is pretty full for quality titles. They should just focus on Monster Hunter.

Everything matters for Switch , its now or never. The more quality 3rd parties the better for the ones that are not into every single 1st party Nintendo offers.

After playing it in VR, I just can't imagine playing it on the Switch, or in any normal console mode for that matter.
