Capcom (possibly) announcing some shit - vague (updated) - It's a retro console

Popped up on twitter, Darkstalkers and E. Honda flashes up and for some reason an xenomorph could be nuttin', could be something.

Capcom shares teaser for upcoming announcement — Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, Alien vs. Predator shown

Capcom released a short teaser video saying "Here comes a new challenger" over on the official Street Fighter Facebook page. You can check it out here.

According to the tease, an announcement is being made tomorrow to reveal what this mysterious video is referencing. In the trailer, we see small glimpses of past Capcom games, including the Street Fighter 2 series, Darkstalkers, Alien vs. Predator, and more.

Upon initially seeing the teaser, we thought it was setting up for a new Street Fighter 5 character reveal — considering it being uploaded on the main Street Fighter Facebook page and using text like "A new challenger appears." But upon further inspection, we no longer believe this is the case.

Based on what we're seeing, we have a hunch that this might be an announcement for a new collection of retro games from Capcom. This is just speculation, of course.

The announcement is slated for tomorrow (Tuesday, April 16th) at 3 p.m. GMT / 4 p.m. CET / 8 a.m. PST / 11 a.m. EST.

Funnily enough, unlike MK that relied on shock value, the gimmick of SFII was "good gameplay".

I would absolutely love for a new Darkstalkers game, have been wanting one for the longest time now. Would also love for anything Street Fighter related as well. I’d even be down with anything Alien vs Predator. This could be any number of things from a classic compilation of games to a Capcom All-Stars fighting game. Since it’s from Capcom and they are awesome I’m hyped to see whatever this could be.

Sadly Street Fighter has substance, the T/A merely heightens it's greatness.

Horizon Zero Dawn is another generic open world that has nothing going for it beyond visuals, as with most PS4 games. When BOTW exists there is literally no point, none. It's inferior in every conceivable way. Rather than cheer the player up with a sexually attractive character they opted to have have a big cave-woman sporting a popeye chin.

E. Honda is suspiciously missing from the SFV roster.... last of the original 12.

Damn, rumor is suggesting it's just a plug-and-play joystick with those games (and more?) on it.

That would make sense.

AVP has fuckall to do with fighting games, unless you count MK which has zilch to do with Capcom.

I'd be up for more arcade compilations. I wish more companies did them again. I still play arcade classics collections parts one and two.

i just want a "VS collection" with X-Men vs Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter and Marvel vs Capcom 2.

Well, now that Disney owns Fox, Capcom better get in talks with Bob and Kevin for it (and hope they aren't being super conservative about it like Bob and Kathleen probably are with Namco and Soulcalibur IV for BC).

It's basically another retro console. These things have been sitting on Ebay for years with a better selection of games at a cheaper price.

Only game I want to play is the AVP arcade game, not enough to buy bundle but if they offered it individually then for sure.

Konami needs to do same for Aliens, TMNT, Sunset Riders, X-Men. Sega too, their main focus with collections is for console games, but their arcade games were the golden age of arcade gaming when Sega was at their peak.

Would also love an Acclaim / Midway collection but not sure whatever happened to the rights to that stuff.

EDIT: oh, it's a console... well, that's shit, even a collection for current consoles was an iffy buy for me but this settles it

Not exactly what I was hoping for but that’s a really awesome looking product that looks like a quality build and there are some very cool games on it. I want one.

That arcade stick design is horrible.

Ehh. You can always re-paint it. I'm glad they didn't put wonky Viewlix layouts on an arcade panel for once. I'm tired of all of these companies following Madcatz trend from 08 - made from a cab that traditionally only shmups used.

i suck balls with arcade sticks. so a double no from me.

I don't mind the look of this thing. But $250 and it has less games than the SNES or PS1 Classics(not to mention a good portion of the games are in the recent SF and Capcom Beat Em' collections). So unless I am able to easily hack it like NES/SNES with compatibility for most games, or it tanks in price like PS1, I'm out.

Eh, looks alright to me, designed to sit on tablet with 2 folk.

Would have been better (IMO), if it was a straight up single arcade stick that had these games, and the ability to (hmm) add more, but also doubled up with the ability to plug into a console to be used with PS4/XB/PC games. It really wouldn't be that difficult to do, I do it myself with a mame DIY kit, which is like, £3 and takes 10 minutes put in.

Instead you have a really limited, massively hugely priced arcade double stick, aimed at an audience who most likely already have an arcade stick.

Worth £199 I think not some good games on there though but I'll pass on that.
