With the PS4 and even Xbone well on their way to passing Wiiu lifetime sales before the end of the year and Wiiu sales not picking up even though Nintendo just released yet another Mario rehash for it is it safe to say it is dead?

Technically they are picking up (ie they are higher than the previous week). So you straight up lied there.
Also, they're still selling them right? So what do you think the answer is? Stop wasting people's time with answers you can look up yourself. It's obviously not dead until they stop selling or manufacturing them.
I don't think Xbox One, or PlayStation 4 will outsell the Wii U by the end of 2013. They are both having a hard time meeting demand, I however think they will outsell the Wii U in early 2014. It won't die, Nintendo is doing good financially, and regardless it will become a first party exclusive system like many Nintendo consoles have been since the N64, they all survived.
Funny I seem to not only be playing my WiiU more, but I've noticed that Miiverse space on the front menu to be growing these past few days. (though that could just be because there are 3DS users on Miiverse now)
No system is dead until support ceases.
Pretty much this
Wii U still has X, Bayonetta 2, 2 Zelda games and the new Smash game

I'm just waiting for the new ZeldaU before committing to a WiiU. Besides, it's only been a year. The PSX had to wait at least two years before its first must-have game (FFVII) appeared.
The wii u is not dead but it is on life support. It's not looking good but it can come back but it does not look good. The lack of 3rd party support and power is what I think will eventually kill the platform. Unlike the ps4 that has good maybe the best 1st party support it also has 3rd party support and indie support. It also seems the wii u is lacking in multi media features and social features plus crappy online gaming support. The wii u also cost almost the same as a ps4 and is much less powerful.
The wii u is a poor value. This is what is killing the wii u.

Dead = Discontinuation.
Till that day you cant say Wii U is dead but you can easily say its in a very , veeeery bad situation right now.
Wii U isnt dead yet, but if it continues selling so badly then it will be in a couple of years time.
Not yet. The Wii U is still in a coma on life support.
Someone should pull the plug.

November NPD was down more than 60% from last year. That has NEVER happened during the second year for any of the big three.
Wii U was dead years ago. Nintendo is paying for past mistakes on this one. They could've released a really good console this time and it wouldn't have mattered. The fact that they released the wii u instead is a testament to their utter cluelessness.
iwata will reevaluate after the holidays...
but after the new nintendo direct....it looks like they are just going to keep releasing games for it...see zelda warriors...might spur sales in japan.
besides wiiU is still in first...suicide is not an option right now.
Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, X, Bayonetta 2, and new Miyamoto IP? Na, it's just getting started. It still amazes me that people state the Wii-U "has no games" despite having a long list of already released exclusives and multiplatform games, and an amazing 2014 line-up.
They have Smash, Kart, X, Bayonetta, and Zelda in development for the Wii U, why would they just kill it? Earliest we are going to see Nintendo's next console is 2016.
I don't think it's dead, but a price cut wouldn't hurt. In the past month, I've added Ps4, Xbone, 3DS XL and Vita to my collection. I snagged the handhelds because I've never had any and found some decent deals on them.
I'll eventually get the Wii U once it hits a price I'm comfortable with for the system. I like to have them all because they all have some exclusives to enjoy but it's not worth 299 for me. The best I saw was a 249 Pimkin bundle.
Once it hits 150 for the system or a decent 199 bundle, I'll consider adding it to my collection. Sooner or later it's bound to happen and I have more than enough to keep my occupied until it does.

Also the Wii U is doing good in Japan currently it was in 2nd in sales.

Nintendo lost their mind with the Wii U. I knew it would be a flop, but I remember people insisting Nintendo was back. This was their hardcore return! Instead, its the Wii...with a U. I can't imagine being a Nintendo fan. A friend of mine bought the Wii U and I literally said "Whhaaat? Why?!" Not to be a jerk, but it was shocking to me.
