Can the Nintendo Network compete against Xbox Live and PSN?

Those companies have millions and millions of members, can nintendo really claim such numbers? What would they have to do differently to set themselves apart form the competition?

Well...I'll say no because it's Nintendo.

Although they could surprise us.

If they f-ing put it together, but there's little evidence from what they've done before to suggest they'll deliver on what XBL and PSN have been doing for years already.

If the Wii and DS are anything to go by, then no.

At most, it will succeed as an online retail store. It will never be a proper online gaming infrastructure. Nintendo doesn't seem interested in things like that.

They can if they wanted to. But then again Nintendo DOESN'T focus too much on Online Gaming, which is a good thing. Most Nintendo games are SP focus and have done perfectly for generations.

Nintendo Network would likely be comparable to PSN, maybe even FREE, which is very likely.

I don't know. It is not out yet to see. But probably not.

All they really have to do is just get a good freind list and interface and allow voice chat, and their good to go. If they do that AND make it free then it would already be a better online service than XBL (XBL isn't a service, it's a scam, which is why PSN is the best console online service)

No, it'd be the the exact same product, just with an arbitrary number attached to it. Your rating for the phone wouldn't suddenly plummet because of the cost of the iPhone.

Well unless they charge for it I don't see why they have to compete with XBL so that just leaves PSN which shouldn't exactly be hard, however it will probably only compete with this generations iterations of those online services and look archaic by next gen.

I believe Activision said they were listening to them last year, as did EA I believe.

Whether that's good or bad though...
