Can Sony Bend make a better TLOU than Naughty Dog?

Days Gone looked great but very derivative of TLOU. Now, with Days Gone coming out next year or early 2018 and TLOU 2 coming out late 2018 or 2019. I can't help feel there will be comparisons made and understandably so. Can Sony Bend outdo ND?

I think they can, Golden Abyss was the best Uncharted game. just saying

I dunno....I liked Golden Abyss too but at its best, it felt like a better version of Uncharted 1. That and I hated how much you had to use the touch screen.

Well the ending definitely hinted room for a sequel. The game also sold like hot cakes too so they would be crazy not to continue them. Do you hate Last of Us? ?

Days Gone is a open world game where you shoot hordes of zombies so they aren't really that similar.

@killered3: @Kruiz_Bathory: Nolan North (the vocie of Nathan Drake) already confirms that Naughty Dogs is working on TLOU2 for a long time and I'm sure Sony might annouce TLOU2 on there PlayStation Experience 2016 or at the Video Games Awards I guess.

I would have rather have the proper zombie apocalypse game from ND, Blend has a lot to prove here.

The game looks like TLOU2 minus the smooth animation or any interesting or distinguishing marks for it.

Naughty Dog is one of the top 3 developers right now, I'm sorry but a PSP developer don't day much. Just look at Ready at Dawn and the canceled Pre-Order 1886

Yes they can. They will just make a movie and pass it off as a game. Oh wait, they have already done that.

A better GAME? Sure, its possible. Better narrative and characters? Maybe, but thats not an easy task by industry standards. That and I doubt they pull ND-level budgets from sony.

Don't count on it. This game has a lot to prove, and needs to differentiate itself from being a Last of Us/Uncharted clone

Agreed. You really want to prove games can be art? Learn to let the good ones alone rather than milk them. ND are so talented. They can make a new IP and be successful.

Thematically I'm less than enthused, but talk about the mechanics has my interested piqued. Bend has the chops to make a great game, but I don't see them rising to the same level of fame and it certainly doesn't seem to me that it'll top TLOU (which, to me, is a top 5 GOAT).

I dunno, but I'm somewhat sick of the zombie thing.

Too early to tell, but I highly doubt it. Naughty Dog is in a league of their own. No offense to Sony Bend, but what have they made in the past that even came close to matching the quality of ND games?

Personally, I say Bend can't top Naughty Dog either.

That said, it doesn't have to be a better TLOU, it just has to be a good game and when I saw it I thought it was more like Left 4 Dead meets World War Z than TLOU.

Days Gone looked bland as **** IMO. My opinion may change the more we see, but at this point i'm gonna go with a resounding "no."

I want a proper sequel to the series (i.e. where 3 left off). It was campy, serious-but-not-serious (not-serious self-aware) and had better stealth than the Metal Gear Solid games (oh shit, did I just go there!?).

If they reboot it, it's just going to be yet another overly serious third person, chest-high-walls cover shooter with only the name in common with the originals. The originals were fun because they weren't like other games out there.

I don't know, but doesn't look like they are even trying too. While the two games have some fairly superficial similarities which pretty much come down to 'hey, we're both post-zombie apocalypse games' the style of each game looks pretty radically different. TLOU was a highly narrative focused, mostly linear game with small scale combat and a heavy emphasis on stealth. Days Gone has an underdetermined level of narrative focus, is supposedly open world, large scale combat with more an emphasis on use of the environment for movement (in this manner it is more similar to UC than TLOU). So other than general setting and the archetype of the main character being similar, there really isn't much here that is the same.

I'm interested in this, if nothing else. But it is still far too early to say how this one will shape up.

Aside from them both having zombies I'm not seeing the comparisons. Days Gone is open world, has motorcycles, features huge hordes of zombies. TLOU is more linear and focuses on stealth gameplay.

So Day's Gone looks bland

Gears 4 and Forza Horizon, Dead Rising 4 (XB1) all look way more stale.

civ 6 (looks like a mobile game), overwatch (team fortress 2 ripoff PC)

star fox zero (horribad blandness from nintendo)

Day's gone looks fresh as apple cider on a sunday morning to me.

DEAD RISING 4 looks stale not Day's Gone its a completely different zombie genre game we haven't seen before.

It looked like 28 days later of video games which revamped the zombie genre in movies. That's very fresh for a zombie game imo I love how they move fast and swarm up. I just love it and haven't seen a zombie game with zombies that look like that before can you tell me one where they swarm up like that and look as good link me a picture actually link me a picture of a game that looks as good as it actually.

Everyone is acting salty over the amazing lineup of games Sony just showed off at E3. I guess I would be too if all I had was Dead Rising 4 (aka Dynasty Warriors with zombies) and not this great looking open world game inspired by Sons of Anarchy.

No, and with Days Gone it's doubtful they'll even do TLOU2 any time soon sadly.

In theory, they could make more of a proper survival game, something that The Last of Us really isn't. In reality? Naughty Dog's game is well paced, tightly designed, has enjoyable set of mechanics, well acted, reasonably well written, has top notch presentation, and the multiplayer is fairly well done. So never say never, but The Last of Us isn't exactly some low bar. Then again the people who made Urban Chaos went on to make games as good as Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, so who knows.

Ditto. Are there similarities? Sure. But I see both titles as being distinctive enough that both can co-exist and be appreciated. Besides, TLOU had some awesome music.

Golden Abyss was a better Uncharted game than Uncharted 1, that's about it. Plus remember what happened to the last studio that had been making PSP/Vita games for years and tried a AAA title? It was The Order. So yeah I wouldn't get super excited just yet, even though the game does look interesting I'd be surprised if it managed to have anywhere near the level of writing TLOU had.
