I really don't get it. I admit I only played the first one, second and the pirate one for a bit
but the game very repetitive, the fighting and stealth mechanics are pretty mediocre. The A.i is just meh the game has no challenge I literately kill someone run onto a roof top then jump in some hay and crisis averted. Black flag was the only one I thought was decent because of the setting but again the game didn't really have any challenge. I may even go as far and say this is perhaps the most overrated series of all time.

They are bad games.

The first game presented the series intriguingly but then the series just became bland and playing it feels like a chore (from my experience). The stealth mechanics are easily one of the worst in gaming but somehow the games always get good reviews.. I honestly don't know why they are so popular. It's a question I pose myself often as well.

There's hundreds of reviews out there that do explain it for you. What no one can do is understand it for you.

Assassin's Creed allows players to explore the most iconic settings in history and experience the most famous time periods. All Plus, most are open world and riddled with activities. All as an Assassin.

Mind you, I don't care for the series anymore. But the games are easy to pick up and familiarize ones self with. All this sells

They're the Nicolas Cage movies of video games: mediocre but with try hard plots. The masses love that kind of stuff.

More about the theme / story / universe than the gameplay sadly....

I can somewhat put up with the repetitiveness... in black flag, because it was broken up well. but the rest of the franchise is dead to me now.

Those are exactly my thoughts on Asscreed games. I played 1+2 and black flag and quite honestly they are some of the most boring and repetitive games ( especially 1 and 2 )

I agree with this. It was all a rolling boulder after AC1. When I heard about it, I was like "Sweet, I can be an assassin and climb buildings in the middle east", then the sequels came out, "sweet, i'm in Italy", "Now, i'm in England".

And, the cliffhanger after AC1 fueled my interest and curiosity to see what would happen in later installments. Too bad the story and everything else went to shit.

Industry is ruled by casuals. The games that are easy to get into and have more mainstream appeal/marketing are always more successful. Most of them don't discuss stuff like "level design" or "Artificial Intelligence" or rest of the stuff in real life as we do on forums or with some of our friends who are gaming for a long time.

They just want to return home, turn on their Console and shoot some people in COD or cut some people in AC without being frustrated by any challenge because most of them just throw their controller away otherwise.

Gamers have the same brand of shit taste that they swear "casuals" and "dude bros" have, and are allergic to good things.

A narrative by the media picking and selecting which data blocks get implanted in your brain.

Good or bad; irrelevant, as long as it's made out as a "thing".

Check the front page right now, be about 5-6 Fallout articles on a single page with a Fallout show, turning Fallout 4 into an event before a reviewer has even informed the consumer.
