Fallout 76, much like No Mans Sky has a tepid response, putting it mildly. But, much like No Mans Sky they've been scrambling out patch and patch, content announcement after content announcement attempting to morph the product initial state into something more palatable. Appealing, even.

Most recently human NPC's, Battle Royal and raids which Todd trotted out to a 1984 we-love-big-brother audience clippy-clapping away while a single streak of saliva escaped with gusto.

Do you believe this game is salvageable? People are still playing it. Is it worth saving?

Too many other game worth caring about. And while NMS is better than it was, it's still pretty boring IMO in that it all the planets start looking the same pretty quick. The game needs some serious weather systems and lighting that matches it's solar system's nearest sun and dispersion from nearby moon or planets since days and nights look the same regardless of distance from sun. Actually do any of the solar systems have moons? I didn't even notice. Gameplay just feels too samey and I don't feel like I'm ever exploring anything new and that's what bothers me more about NMS despite the features they have added.

As for F76 well I *Yawn and I also think that the game really needs *Yawn.....*snoooze...zzzz....zzzz.....zzzz....zzz

I hope not. I don't want this to be a trend where devs release a broken game, fix it later, and still end up being successful.

No mans sky is one thing because it was made by a small and new studio. Bethesda has been at it for a long time, no excuses.

Why does it need saving when it has a dedicated, thriving community? Go check the official FO76 reddit if you don't believe me.

Also, why do you feel the need to hate on something the gaming media has programmed you to hate? Feeling the need to conform?

No, just play Fallout 4 and dlc instead, like I'm doing. A game that's actually worth playing.

They could, but I doubt they want to. And I voted NO by the way.

Thing is, they really don't want to. All the AAA's want is your money, they don't care if you are playing a solid game or get a fun experience.

Also, good job on the poll, that made me seriously laugh.

Bethesda is already incompetent enough when releasing a single player game that modders have to fix for them.

They are absolutely clueless when it comes to multiplayer, evident across many games, not just F76.

The only reason Oblivion and Skyrim went from acceptable to stellar was because of the mod community, otherwise they were buggy, old-looking messes with shallow game mechanics but a pretty epic setting and story.

If they want to salvage Fallout 76, they need to make it open-source and allow people to make their own modded servers and so forth. Let people make their owns mods, raids, combat arenas, weapons and tools and enemies, and so forth.

But it won't come to that, because Bethesda has decided they want less freedom for their loyal customers, not more (paid mods, anyone?)

I mean that's the truth when you get down to it, it's more a tool for a great game than a great game in-itself.

I’d rather play Rebel Galaxy Outlaw than either of these. Now THAT is how you do a modern space fighter game.

Space sim that just came out, sequel to the original Rebel Galaxy.

It hearkens back to the space sims of yesteryear with punchy interfaces, colorful displays, and in-HUD conversations with other pilots while at the same time feeling modern and not dumbed down.

It's not perfect, though, kind of hard to get into.

It's also on the Tencent-Epic Game Store, sadly.

*Not sure how it applies to this conversation, though.

Bethesda has nothing to prove. So, they won't.

Bethesda hasn't managed to get any of their previous games working, so I don't know why you'd expect them to suddenly become competent with Fallout 76.

@subspecies: Dedicated, sure. Thriving, doubtful. How many people play it daily, weekly? The numbers can't be good.
