Can 3ds even compete with vita in first person shooters? I dont know how you can play a first person shooter without two analog sticks. Vita has two analog sticks. So you can play a fps in the traditional way it is played on a controller.

Nintendo ds had only 1 or two first person shooter games. Because it didnt two analog sticks. I dont see how having just one analog helps at all on the 3ds. So I dont expect any fps's on 3ds.

Its going to be so cool to play Call of Duty online and like you do on a console on the vita.

Can't say it matters much to me. FPS are really one of those franchises that always feel awkward for me on a handheld. I can't imagine the dual analogue will change that either.

Npoe it cant. But does it have to? No. Why anyone wants handheld FPS games that are always best at home online with friends on the consolesis far beyond me.

Whens the last time you played on a handheld that had two analog sticks? I think it will change people minds about first person shooters on a handheld when vita comes out.

That's probably the genre I care the least about on a handheld, so it doesn't bother me if the 3DS doesn't compete.

Of course it can't compete. 3ds would use its one analog and XBAY to move. Or whatever the names of those buttons are on that thing.

Use your head. I said Online with friends. Platformers,Puzzle games, and RPGs are all great on handhelds. They do not rely on online play and are amazing on handhelds.Just think where did all the RPGs go this generation? The Ds and Psp. FPS as you can see from most people on this post are just not a handheld priority.

While me not being a FPS fan in general may play a small roll. I've never liked FPS on a handheld screen. Shoot me "pun intended" I doubt a dual analogue will help this matter of FPS's feeling strange on a portable system.

Well its going to be a new market for a handheld to get into. I thinks its a case of "if you build it, they will come".

For my own sake, I hope it discourages FPS games on the 3DS. But I know that won't happen. And it probably shouldn't since many unfortunatey do like FPS games. The PSP and DS both had first person shooters, so yeah, the 3DS probably will too, especially since it's powerful enough to provide a console level FPS experience.

Nintendo DS: Dementium.

Go check it out. It plays excellent with a touch pad or face-buttons.

This once again raises the same point though. If shooters are a potential market on Sony's handheld then both are going for a different audience.

Thats true. More people may see the beauty of handhelds.

But I think TC should wait and see before blowing the trumpet. There is a lot of time between now and March and something is bound to come up. No system launches without some sort of problem.

FPS would be very awkward on a handheld, regardless of how many analog sticks it has. I don't think it matters.

Surely the touchpad is more accurate than having a second analogue stick. And in any case...FPS games on a handheld? ew. I can't really imagine a pick-up-and-play shooter.

Hmm...personally I'd prefer a second analog stick over using the touch screen to shift the camera, so if I had to make a choice it'd be Vita. That being said, of course they can still "compete".

You've also never had dual analogs on a handheld.

I say they go hand in hand. I also have no craving to play a shooter on a handheld but it's mainly because they're just too awkward without the second analog stick.

I'd much rather play my FPS games on my home console but the 3DS does have the touch screen which isn't too bad for FPS's but the Vita certainly has an advantage with FPS's.

93BlackHawk93

Neither do i, not even outside the handheld market (save for a very few exceptions) but that didn't stop MS from selling millions of consoles based on it's online and Halo...

We might not care but it seems the biggest pie of the consumer chart does, and if Sony plays their cards right they might sell because of that. It pains me to admit that the handheld market might won by shooters in the future but that's what the tendencies indicate.

I just hope they still continue to gives us tatics and rpgs games....

The touchscreen aiming the DS does with FPSs is actually my favorite control sceme for them.

I believe it can compete.

Third person shooters are an entirely different matter though.

Yeah i played that Metroid game for DS, it was very easy to aim. The bad thing it is not easy to play more than like 30min with it because you get very tired in your hands. Specially left hand that hold DS by itself while you play around with the DS pen.

Man I love MP:H. SP was underwhelming (though I did enjoy it) but the mp was oh so solid. I over came the cramps pretty fast as well.

best part was sh*tting on kids that used the red guy, his alt form was so overpowered, but I just owned using Samus. I was too good at that game.

The game actually was quite well done. I really liked it. I'd love love love a second attempt with 8 player mp and more customizable modes online. The alt forms really helped make the gameplay more unique then most FPS games I have played and I love the stylus aiming. Samus, Trace and Noxus, those were the guys haha

The touchscreen is faster and more precise than the dual analogs. The only complaint in the touch screen is that it makes your hands crampy over time.

Pokemon is Nintendo exclusive. A Sony fan can only dream for it to come on a Sony platform. MH isn't Sony exclusive. There's an MH game on the Wii. There's no stopping for MH to come to 3DS.

It doesn't matter to the Japanese. As long as it's MH, it will sell like hotcakes.
