Callisto Protocol advertizes season pass before game finished - pay for hardmode

Good news for fans of the already overrated Dead Space.

The upcoming, soon to be overrated Dead Space clone, is advertising its season pass before the game is finished. Triumphantly announcing hard mode will cost money as segmented content.

Will you be playing a better game like me? Or will you be duped when the gaming media tell you it's amazing when it actually isn't?

The Callisto Protocol's Season Pass Adds New Modes, Story Content, And Even More Grisly Death Animations

The Callisto Protocol will have more content available after it launches in December, as a season pass for the sci-fi horror game has been spotted on its Steam page listing.

This extra content includes new story content, undiscovered areas of Black Iron Prison to explore, and Riot, a new horde-like mode in which players will have to battle waves of enemies while maintaining their gear. For players looking to get the ultimate challenge, the Contagion Bundle is described as the "ultimate survival horror experience" that reduces the amount of ammo and health packs available, customizes the difficulty, and activates a permadeath feature.

There'll also be some new cosmetics to unlock, as well as 13 new death animations to recoil in horror at when you see them applied to the protagonist, Jacob. This isn't an unusual feature to advertise, as plenty of marketing for The Callisto Protocol has focused on how Jacob can--and probably will--die in one of several gruesome ways as he explores an environment that's infested with horrors lurking beneath the surface.

Striking Distance boss Glen Schofield had previously mentioned that the development team looked at grisly car crash scenes for inspiration, to give you an idea of how horrifying these death scenes will be.

The Callisto Protocol launches on December 2 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC, but you won't see it for sale in Japan due to the studio deciding to not edit the game to pass the CERO rating of that country. The Callisto Protocol will have a 60fps mode when it arrives, and Schofield has said that he has ideas for Callisto Protocol sequels.

I cared about this sort of stuff ten years ago.

Now games are designed around offering no fun, and putting fun behind a paywall.

Eh, I don't care anymore. If Callisto is fun I'll play it and I'll happily purchase a story expansion later on.

As long as the base game feels like a satisfying enough experience I’ll get it. Same with the dlc. The horde type mode sounds good. I really enjoy that kind of stuff.

The game did went Gold like a month ago and hearing them discussing about season pass is fine and this isn't me saying I'm defending this even though I'm hype to play the game. That being said, the season pass was always going to be part of the deluxe edition anyway, not much to be upset over it.

the idea of a Seasons Pass sorta makes sense for multiplayer games with ongoing support, but for story-driven singleplayer stuff its still annoying.

Story DLC/Expansions are fine but the idea that this game will have mulitple "seasons" of content after its release seems kinda silly, and feels like it would promote a drip-feed of superflulous throw-away garbage instead of one or two more substantial additions

Halflife 2: Episode 1 is a legitimately good expansion pack. Most likely better than this 24 charged for game animations. And hard-mode someone could mod in a week even if it wasn't deliberately segmented content.

Episode 1 suck. it was glorified epilogue DLC. Episode 2 was masterpiece.

beside what im saying is a base game 20 hour long completed. they decide to make option DLC/season pass and thats it. it all ciriticze if base game is incomplete.

Also, I wasn't going to buy this game at launch anyways. I got too big a backlog to deal with. The price will drop at some point, just wait.

While it was already well known the deluxe edition would come with a season pass from the start. The main problem is Glen Schofield wants to discuss what's coming in the season pass before the game is releasing despite it went Gold already. Glen should have kept his mouth shut and wait for the game to be out or at the least wait until the new year arrives to firmly discuss about a season pass. That's the problem here.
