Out of left field. Anyone actually excited for this? I never played the original so I may look into this.
A little info and comparison image.

We want a Burnout 3 remaster dammit.
No we want a new Burnout period.
Considering the changes that have happened to Criterion over the years, there's little chance a new title would live up the quality of previous entries.
It's nice to see an old arcade racing franchise return from the dead but was anybody really asking for a remaster of this game? The original already ran at 60fps and still looks great. I hope they are just testing the waters of interest and profitability for a possible actual sequel, even if I have never been Burnout's biggest fan.
Let's bring back Motorstorm and Project Gotham Racing while we're at it!
Good luck to them releasing this in a world where FH3 exists. Although, if I remember correctly, this open world version kept some of the Burnout series trademarks such as slow mo crashes. Fun game but I preferred the older Burnouts.
Burnout Paradise was originally developed with PS3 as the lead platform, which at the time of development (2007) was a bit surprising since most multi-platform games in last gen console were designed with Xbox 360 being the lead platform. That said, developers were saying this actually made the Xbox 360 version of Burnout Paradise better than it would have been if it had been developed on 360 alone. And other than some minor stuff like texture filtering, the PS3 version didn't really look noticeably

I think they have "remastered" confused with "re-release"... In order for it to be classed as a remaster they need to add new graphical upgrades that didn't exist before like Skyrim and Shadow of the Colossus this is just high resolution.
It was only on the PS3 and 360 last gen. Would like to see a new Burnout, like Burnout 4 for instance.
I think this is the first time EA has jumped on the Remaster wagon?
I reckon the success of this will determine if they do more
Meh.
It was a good game in it's time and provided years of play for me, but doesn't look like the remaster is much of a step up. I guess if you missed it, it was one of the last really good games Criterion did. Probably not the type of game to "double dip"if you already grinded out the previous one to completion (as I did).
Racing games are an odd genre to remaster.
@mclarenmaster18: I agree that Revenge shits all over Paradise.
Onrush looks terrible, and Gravel looks ok at best.
At first i was like meh. But then i read about it and it sounded like thst it was overhauled big time so it got me interested. Then after looking at the comparison, I'm back to meh.
Would've much preferred 3 or revenge or best of all a new game.
I'm still at a loss as to why Burnout was buried in order to provide more oxygen for Need For Speed. Owning both, EA had to realize the numbers were showing that it was better to push consumers to NFS then continue to invest in projects whose overlapping playerbases couldn't excuse the investment costs. But why they didn't try to distinguish the two by having one mimic Forza/Gran Turismo as a simulation centric game still confuses me now.
Per the OP, I'm fine with a remaster. Paradise was a game I bought long after the fact and had technical difficulties with on PC, so I'd contemplate a purchase for around $20 when the right sale rolls around.
EDIT: Actually, watching that trailer, I'm good. I'll manage without.
They remastered the wrong Burnout game. This is the crappy open-world Burnout game that killed the franchise. Why the hell did Burnout ever need to be open-world?
They should have remastered either Burnout 3 or Burnout Revenge. Those were the good Burnout games.
My least favourite Burnout, also who the fu%84 asked for this? $34.99 for a 10 year old remaster. Give me a new burnout!
I've only played this one and I loved it, but I would pretty much always prefer a new game to a remaster/reissue.
Sorry but I'm all Burnout playing these racing games as it is already.
Paradise on the Xbox 360 was really fun I enjoy it back in the 360 era, but $40 for this? GTFO!
But seriously, I mentioned this in the article comments but I'm pretty "meh" about this in general. I put in a lot of hours on Paradise already. Lots of late nights grinding races over and over to progress on the 360 version, and then later on the PC version. However, as has already been pointed out this version wasn't exactly the quintessential Burnout game. No Crash Mode was a big absence as this was one of the most fun time wasters in the previous games. The spiritual successors of Dangerous Golf and Danger Zone are pretty pale imitations. It added some cool stuff but at the cost of some other really cool stuff. Plus $40 for an HD facelift of a game that already runs at high res on the PC version isn't exactly that enticing. I'd love an updated remake of Takedown or Revenger but those are older and would require full remakes.

They deserve all the money. They gave us so much free content long after the game released last gen that they are one of the best examples on how you treat your customers. I'll happely buy their game over and over again because they are awesome and so is the game.
Loved the game a lot at the time, but went back to play it recently and it didn't have the same enjoyment. It felt dated, and I'm not just talking graphics. May have been the mood I was in as it's not that old but honestly not that bothered.
Played the demo on PS3. It was ok. Never had the urge to get the full game.
That's one random remaster tho lol. Like... why?
