Best Racing Game of 2008? I think so.
The demo is coming today, I didn't like the series, but this game is different, I want it.HAZE-UnitWhat didn't you like about the other ones, and which ones did you play. Anything before takedown for me was mediocre.

I don't remember which one, I've only played one, maybe the first one or second, it was crap, I couldn't stand it, after that, I ignored the series, but this game, from videos, it is very interesting.

You probably played one of the first two.Burnout 1: 8.0
Burnout 2: 8.3
Burnout 3 Takedown: 9.5
Burnout Revenge: 9.1
I cant wait. I loved takedown and this looks like a definite must-have game for me next year. Ill be downloading the demo ASAP tomorrow.
This also proves that EA and Sony know what they're doing, and can indeed work well together, contrary to what the Orange box may suggest.

Burnout 3 Takedown was best IMO. I hated Burnout Revenge though, they wasted a good formula.

Yep, so if EA can produce a game as good as it seems with the PS3 as the lead sku, they must have a fairly good understanding of the system.
Its perfection.
I really can't see how they can improve the formulae anymore. Unless they set one in the future with supercars, strange planets with varying gravity and perhaps a world editor.

And you think that would make it better?? Thank GOD ur not a game developer.
From my post in Xbox 360 forum:
First Impressions after ~30 minutes of play.
Presentation: Overdone, like many EA games. The DJ is annoying as always, lots of flash-boom-bang, fancy camera angles and slow motion crashes, maybe too much.
Control: Fast and sharp, nothing to complain about so far.
Sound: Not much to say, its standard burnout fare.
Graphics: Not super impressive aside from the crashes which range from decent to very impressive. For example head-on collisions look great. But crashing in to a few cars from the side doesn't deform the body of the car as well as fron/read crashes.
There is a good deal of pop-up and level-of-detail effects, but these are entirely excusable since you won't notice them going fast. What you will notice are the stutters and dips in the framerate, at least I did, especially in races. Hopefully this is something that won't make it to the final, as stuttering framerates are NOT acceptable for this sort of game.
Online: Untested, I don't typically play games like this very much online though so it doesn't factor heavily for me.
I've been a big fan of Burnout as long as its been around, and I typically hate the lost feeling I get from these open world games that just set you free to do your own thing. I don't really feel a sense of progression through such games, and its the same feeling here. I kind of miss the structured progression of the previous Burnouts, but I can also appreciate that it was getting stale and needed changing.
My first impressions score: 7.5 (note this is not my prediction of the final review score or anything, merely my personal baseline score from VERY early impressions of the game).
Demo is alright nothing special open world is just annoying, spend more time driving around looking for races than actual racing.
One thing they should add is jump to location and restart after a race.

So, no excuses when it's the worst version? ;)

I agree, Burnout 3 was the best. Burnout 2 got me into the series though, that game is awesome!
They made some bad decisions with Burnout Revenge. I hated the overly shaky cam during crashes, it made them look worse than they did in 3. Also, traffic checking (being able to hit normal sized cars without crashing) made the game a little less challenging... they should have made it so that you could only do it while boosting or with certain cars or something.
I did like being able to explode your car during the aftertouch takedown though.
I'm going to download this demo after work tonight. Been a while since I fired up some burnout.
