Boring Pictish cry-cry game "Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice" ready to put Nintendo users to sleep

In a surprise announcement during last night's Nintendo Direct, the excellent Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice was confirmed for launch on Switch.

Developed by Cambridge-based Heavenly Sword and Enslaved studio Ninja Theory, Hellblade previously launched on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One before Ninja Theory was bought out by Microsoft last year.

Its arrival for Switch sometime this spring is another indicator of Microsoft and Nintendo's growing relationship - which has been tipped to properly take off via the introduction of Xbox Live on Nintendo Switch in the future.

And if Microsoft was to announce a version of Xbox Game Pass for Nintendo Switch in the future... well, it would want games like Hellblade on the console to fill its subscription's library.

I liked the game. Something different for a change.

On a serious note. I gotta love Microsoft's attitude towards the console wars. For doing stuff like this.

This game was such a piece of shit. Yet everyone praised it. People are so pretentious. No wonder western games suck ass these days. Lately, I'm playing Japanese games almost exclusively. Nintendo Switch, RE2 and soon DMC5.

I for one welcome our new Japanese overlords.

Didn’t hate it. Production value is top-notch but it had little to nothing in the way of gameplay mechanics. Had the combat been more robust - i.e. had there been more of it - it may have been a competent GOW-lite.

I don't understand the hate on this game. It captures what it is trying to really well. The combat was a bit simple so if you wanted Ninja Gaiden you would be disappointed, but the point of it was to portray a perspective in an immersive fashion.

This looked like the definition of a movie game to me. Amazing looks but incredible shallow gameplay.

Not interested in these run-of-the-mill cow games.

I hear this game heavily relies on audio to get the full experience. The Switch sound capabilities are not to great to say the least.

It did not interest me then, it does not interest me now. This game looks like if Sony devs got together to make an Oscar winning movie.

I liked the game... Good for Nintendo getting it.

It has its shortcomings but it's short enough to be an enjoyable experience. Combat is a mix bag for me, while it's underdeveloped it feels raw and gritty like few games I've played.

I couldn't get into it and I like those so called movie games.

on topic - i got it as a xmas present and played about 30 mins of it before deciding i should finish rdr2 first, so it remains untouched since then. i thought it looked really quite interesting. unique premise, cool audio vocal effects, i'd just had my first combat encounter that wasn't too bad and it introduced what sounded like a permadeath feature which was intriguing

? What MS has to do with this?

I liked this game, enjoyed it's story and the landscapes. The sound nailed it for me with binaural audio and the crazy voices whispering in your head. I could see it not being not be everyone's cup of tea but I had fun playing it.

So 480P 20FPS.

More people get to play this great game... awesome.

If you hate Hellblade, then maybe you can understand the term "award bait", and its what Sony does, cause they know its an easy win.

Thankfully for PSVR Sony is at least trying new things, cause since they ditched Vita, feels like they've taken few risks, cause most the top amazing stuff was 3rd party, saying was cause most are on Xbox now.

The movie game developer MS bought (hopefully they move away from the Sony formula for their future games). Yay, to boring movie games coming to the Switch.
