Would you be interested in a remaster of the trilogy?

What was your favourite game in the series?

Nice, never got into the franchise. But to be honest, I'm fatigued from playing all if these remasters. Want to see new games naow!

Insta-buy. Timely, too. I've been thinking quite a lot about Mass Effect lately - especially Mass Effect 1.

Perhaps paradoxically, it's because of Horizon Zero Dawn; which somehow strongly reminds me of ME1.

Will they update ME1 with ME2/3's gameplay? The gunplay and combat in that game are way too janky now.

Last I heard, rumours say ME2 and 3 will be remasters, while ME1 will be a remake.

But eh, gameplay was never why I played through ME1 four times.

@madrocketeer: Definitely not but there is still a lot of fighting in ME1 and shit is so glitchy and clunky it doesn’t hold up too well. I can still play it from start to finish and enjoy but that combat needs to be revamped.

Yeah, I get you. Would be nice to see the gameplay get an update. Just saying, I'll still enjoy it either way.

Today is N7 (November 7th) which normally can be anything from Mass Effect stuff but rumors keep suggesting we'll hear something related to the remastered trilogy. Despite I have all Mass Effect games on PC, I would gladly rebuy the trilogy if they improve or revamp the gameplay for Mass Effect 1 caused the combat is outdated as hell. At least Mass Effect 2/3 gameplay still holds up today's standards.

Unless they changed that shitty ending to ME3 then this is a waste of time and money.

I thought ME3 was best, followed by ME2 then ME1. ME3 was just so epic - the series really came together in a meaningful way in the 3rd game. Also I spent hundreds of hours in the multiplayer - a great add on that I had never expected to be in the game at all.

I've played the trilogy so many times that I kind of got sick of it - so I won't be picking up the remaster. I am ready to move on to other games - unless they make another ME sequel.

I'd almost certainly pick it up - but once it's discounted. It better not be as pathetic as the NFS HP "remaster".

Remastering is just so lazy and for a quick buck. I never get any remastered game unless they are free and even then I usually don't because too many games and too little time.

Hopefully some level of effort goes into this. Doubtful.

I already own the digital X360 versions. Maybe the S|X will breath new life into it in ways the remaster won't.

i would play a remake of me1. played it once, loved it warts and all, haven't touched it since for fear of it not aging well. didn't like me2 and didn't play 3 but i'd give them another chance if it was a nathan drake collection style package

Mass Effect remasters is old news, but it will be nice to finally see the reveal. Mass Effect 2 is the best in the series.

It seems like they're working on a brand new ME as well. After Andromeda and the direction they went, the chances of it being good are minuscule.

I hope they discount it for the ones who own all three, at least do like a Mafia or Metro freebies/discount type of thing.

Sometimes I wonder why anyone doubts the remastered trilogy won't have all DLC? The last trilogy edition had all DLC, why wouldn't this remaster not? Even I knew this remastered will have all DLC, so this didn't bother me at all. Plus, I knew Bioware was working on a new Mass Effect game as they discuss it last year, let's hope it's not Andromeda repeat but then again, Andromeda didn't bother me as I like the combat gameplay.

Very excited for this remaster and what a surprise, no Switch version wasn't announced either despite ME3 is on Wii U. Can't say I'm not shocked the Switch will be left out.

Edit: Inb4 someone says, change ME3 ending. That ending was beyond silly back in 2012. I wasn't here in GS but I bet it was a hot mess in SW?

Great to see it official. Also glad to see 4k confirmed for next gen systems. I'm wondering what the other PS5 enhancements will be though.

I'm also hoping the controls for the first can be mapped to match the 2nd and 3rd games.

People give ME3 shit for the ending, but I still maintain that the game was great up until the last 30 minutes, and was arguably the real end of the era I call "Peak BioWare" (Baldur's Gate II to Mass Effect 2 for me). Citadel was one of the best DLCs ever made.

So yeah, still insta-buy for me.

They need to really retweak ME1's gameplay and graphical problems, retool certain scenes in ME2, and for ME3 clean up the hub graphics and restore aspects of the Priority Earth mission, like the Geth and Quarians being both present if you achieve peace (there is a mod that restores cut content in ME3's final mission).

ME3 is the best, people just do not get it. And really ME2 has narrative weaknesses that ME1 and ME3 don't have. I just don't see how its the best in the series. People want to take its strengths and not its weaknesses.

This is such an easy fix for them to make. This mod really improves the final mission. Its now nearly Suicide mission level.

Yep, I'll be grabbing this day 1.

Was really hoping for a switch version, but it'll be great to return to the Mass Effect universe.

I have every achievement in all three of the original games and have played through the trilogy several times. It's been years though since I've touched it... Lets roll!

@briguyb13: $70 for ~90 hours of remastered content between 3 games. Not terrible value unless you disliked the games.

Regarding the Switch. It was rated for Switch in Korea, if it isn't coming to Switch ever then they "thought about it" at one point. Which is EA's typical attitude with Nintendo so not surprised. I own the trilogy on Xbox 360 and PC. Depending on what kind of updates they make beyond just graphics I might pick it up on PC again, but I was hoping for a Switch version and would have bought it there for sure just for the portable Mass Effect gaming on the go. Sounds like they cut the MP in ME3 as well, which was honestly the best part of that game. But still, I love ME series (and yes, I like Andromeda for a reason) hope this edition turns out well.

If the remaster is a significant improvement I may consider buying it. My favorite Mass Effect will always be the first so I'm very curious how it will look both in terms of visuals and gameplay mechanics after the makeover.

As long as they put serious effort and talent into it, I'm down for Andromeda 2. Keep what worked best in ME:A (exploration, combat), remove the boring open world filler, and add quality writing to the story and characters like in the original Mass Effect. Do that and maybe the Andromeda "soft reboot" can actually be salvaged.

Though to be honest I would be even more excited if they announced a return to the Milky Way.

After the backlash they received from Andromeda I doubt they'll make a direct sequel to that game.

What in the world they'll actually make I haven't a clue. Something that takes place after ME3 would be ideal, rather than a prequel or another spinoff.
