Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout/comments/a59fgr/the_219_fix_is_basically_just_an_ini_edit/

Source 2: https://ca.ign.com/articles/2018/12/12/fallout-76s-new-ultrawide-mode-comes-under-fire-from-players

So they take 1 month to release a patch that adds a feature which should have been available day one, and the end result is basically an edit of a .ini file (which people could already do themselves since launch as an imperfect fix).

I'm completely baffled how a modern AAA developer can let something like this entire Fallout 76 escapade happen.

I think sometimes...it's good to get some fresh air. If you're counting pixels, maybe it's time to take a break.

It's not so much a matter of counting pixels, it's more so a matter of respecting the consumer. Not only did they blatantly lie to people about Fallout 76 as a product (with more issues than I could list off the top of my head), they also botched the special edition, refuse to move on from their outdated engine, accidentally leaked private customer information, and now come out with this "fix".

As a gamer, you should hold yourself to a higher standard than being content with this. Especially if you're one of those people who paid extra for an ultrawide display and expect games to support it properly.

What a god damn disaster of a game.

Bethesda are incompetent devs that relied far too long on modders to fix their games, more news at 11.

The Bethesda hate is so refreshing especially when people continue to buy their games and people continue to bitch about it.

Don't worry, I'm sure Obsidian's Outer Worlds will support Ultrawide, so no need to worry about Bethesda's Fallout 76.

Sometimes I wonder if people actually understand how true this is or if they think it's just something people say. Bethesda GS game design has been shit since Oblivion. I'm not talking about glitches or poor execution, I'm talking about how much their games suck even when everything is working properly.

This isn't counting pixels. The entire image gets stretched to match the small FOV and can give some people motion sickness. I don't get motion sickness, but it's definitely not pleasant to play.

Oh man, poor Bethesda. I loved Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, and Fallout 4 but they really, and I mean REALLY, screwed the pooch with Fallout 76. What a disaster this thing has been for them. I’m still very much looking forward to Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI though.

I'm sure they laid off the programmers that could fix this mess when the game was released. Which is why we got a edit to the game instead of an actual fix.

Band-aid solutions FTW *sigh*

We get it the game is bad....

Even well established companies **** up, we see that time and time again.

I believe Bethesda are stretching themselves too thin ... just like Square Enix has and debatable blizzard too.

What I truly do not understand is why something as truly simple as monitor support and an FOV slider hasnt been implemented by now. I mean, holy shit, these two features show up on every improvememt list since Oblivion, yet it never happens. You don't even need to be a whizzbang coder to make it happen. It will break 100% not a goddamn thing to do it, but they insist on punking out PC gamers for supporting these franchises that print mountains of money.

Its goddamn preposterous, and Im not buying anorher Bethesda game until they have the decency to do it right.

Who the hell spends money for a niche product like ultra wide? Why would a developer optimize something less than 1% of the userbase? Bethesda is not the best dev there is but I wouldn't waste money on optimizing for less than 1% of my users.

@Bread_or_Decide: They're straight up lies, my dude. A barren open world with no NPCs and minimalist story coming out in a broken state is the most ambitious undertaking at Bethesda?

The footage shown before launch was clearly not representative of the final product and their claims of detailed environments with long draw distances were clearly false.

And that's just from two pieces of marketing (E3 and an interview).

@mariah_eater: Adding ultrawide support isn't going to break Bethesda's bank. It's supported by nearly every modern game. Neglecting even 1% of your user base is a horrible business decision, especially in an industry this competitive.

No, those aren't lies. They don't promise any of the things you're complaining about. And they include the things they did talk about.

Not doing it well, is not a lie, but hey internet gonna internet.

An online open world fallout, that sounds very difficult to pull off for a studio that's never done anything like that. So yeah, its something they've never done and required a lot of work and resources.

If its so easy you let me know when yours comes out.

Yup, no idea why gamers are angry :P.

Basic features that should have been supported day 1? The game was fully playable day 1... and it was and still is really fun. Its clear they focused on the consoles at launch and yet still went ahead with the simultaneous release for PC on launch day... I prefer this waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over waiting another year for a simple field of view slider and a push to talk button. These are the features you are talking about right?? There are still a lot of games that dont support ultra wide....

A lot of these online games have been making PC wait a full year. Here we are less then a month after launch and these features have been added. Always online games go through growing pains... and this is clearly no different. There was a lot to this patch... yet again lets bitch about a UI that doesnt scale properly as thread worthy. Bring out the pitch forks and torches

I think people forget that what's new for Bethesda isn't going to match whatever star citizen thing they got in their minds.

@enzyme36: Every online game goes through pains? Oh true, I almost forgot when Destiny, Overwatch, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Borderlands, etc. came out with 5/10s, outdated graphics, a sea of glitches, and lack of basic features :P. Completely standard.

The game has most of these problems on every platform and no, online games don't make PC gamers wait a year lol. I game primarily on PC and I play games just fine at launch.

And yes, those are what I'm referring to as basic features. I don't even know what to tell you if you're really okay with them being added in post launch lol.

Lol with comparisons to arena shooters. The other games have 1/4 of the world offered here. Again Im not sayings its perfect... but its the best fallout wasteland ever created. There will be bugs and they were VERY CLEAR about that even at the E3 press conference.... but if you played and just didnt spout off talking points you would see how much of it actually works.
