The Outer Worlds is not post-apocalyptic. It's more of a retro space western, kind of like Firefly or Borderlands. It also looks the best of the four games.

As for the other three that are post-apocalyptic, Metro Exodus looks the most interesting.

I will probably enjoy them all, and more, but my money is still on Rage 2.

I am having a blast with Just Cause 4 and that game was made by Avalanche's "B team". I imagine anything done with 100% of their best talent will be quite fun. Like Mad Max, a criminally underappreciated game.

Can we stop the Borderlands comparisons?

Need to see more of Metro Exodus and The Outer Worlds. Don't really need to see anything from Far Cry.

Last year, I played mostly Fallout 4, Fallout 3, and New Vegas.

This year, I played mostly Shadow of Chernobyl, Call of Pripyat, Clear Sky, Call of Chernobyl, and Lost Alpha DC. The only game that broke the STALKER stranglehold was Far Cry 5.

Next year? Metro Exodus, Rage 2, Far Cry: New Dawn, The Outer Worlds. Looks like I'll have my fill and get burned out. Fine with me.

The next one is looking more and more like SJW Apocalypse. Kotaku and Polygon are singing its' praises so I am very wary.

The Outer Worlds is not post-apocalyptic but it's the one I'm most looking forward to. Out of the other three, Metro Exodus seems like the most serious and atmospheric game so I'm going with that.

I find it weird that you didn't mention The Last of Us Part II, considering it has as much of a chance of coming out in 2019 as 2020 and it has a bigger following than any of those. Well, no. I would find it weird if it were anyone but you. Seems this thread is about you again.

Burnt out on far cry and metro seems to have been in development for so long I've lost interest so toss up between rage 2 and outer worlds.

I'd take a Obsidian RPG over any movie game any day of the week.

The Last of Us wasn't that great. I rated it a 3 out of 5. Naughty Dog is incapable of making great games. I still think it should have been included in the poll, if he really cares about people's opinions.

this can be said about any other genre. infact most of third person action games are exact same. either they are uncharted/TR clones if they are linear or they are Assaassins creed clones if they are open world. adopt the combat from arkham games.

FPS games are still best games when it comes to gameplay. RPGs always have bad gameplay, open world games are boring and most third person games are movie games ie waste of time.

Uncharted's shooting plays almost nothing like Tomb Raider's. In Uncharted, you can run and gun (firing from the hip), you're encouraged to jump and climb and pounce enemies in the firefight, your melees are quick, you pick up guns or take them as you melee... Tomb Raider is much more static and stiff. The arenas in Uncharted are typically bigger and more vertical. Between these two third person games there is already a bigger difference in combat than between most modern first person shooters.

Obviously uncharted has better combat because tomb raider has worst combat in history next to witcher 3 but they are just too similar to each other. the point is. you said FPS games are same yet these action adventure games are more familiar than FPS games.

2 of my most hype games are Doom Eternal and Metro Exodus and both games have day and night difference. one is fast paced non stop shooting demon, other is deep story driven atmospheric immersive game.

Just Google "Wolfenstein Youngblood" they all pop up on the first page.

It could turn out to be a ruse and they are trolling the extreme left but I get the feeling that's not the case.

Outer Worlds is not a post-apoc at all, it's a pure sci-fi. Backwoods town =/= Post-Apoc.

I can say the same about different FPS games. I've been playing the STALKER series and the Far Cry series for much of the year. The two series are so different from each other in gameplay style that I can't play both concurrently. If I'm tuned in to one series, I tend to suck at the other. Add the first-person gameplay styles of Doom 2016 and Fallout 4 (and maybe GTA V) and they get quite varied.

Rage 2 is looking really good, but it won't be on Steam, it'll be on yet another crappy launcher.

Ehhhhhh... Guess I'll buy Metro. That one looks fantastic as well.

The new Far Cry looks like a Disney Channel motocross movie written as a post-apocalyptic shooter starring Rihanna and her twin sister.

That sounds more creative than what Ubisoft actually did.

They took Fallout's premise and coupled it with RAGE 2's color palette.

they are not apealing towards hardcore fanbase sadly. they are apealing towards casual non gamers. many of CSGO fans dont even know what Half life is a game without CS donot exist.

I love Bethesda published games (DOOM, Wolfenstein, Dishonored), but I have to draw the line somewhere, I really don't need or want a hundred different launchers.

but you needed origins (worst launcher ever) for Battlefield (one of the current worst franchise)..

The Subnautica expansion I am 99.9% sure I will really enjoy so probably that for me, Metro exodus might be ok but ill wait for opinions from friends. I doubt ill bother playing the others.
