Great year for handhelds. My vote goes to Fire Emblem, which is possibly one of the greatest handheld games of all time.

I've enjoyed Ace Attorney Dual Destinies and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D the most.

Still Fire Emblem Awakening.

This year's new 3DS titles I've so far picked up and played through Luigi's Mansion New Moon, Fire Emblem Awakening, Soul Hackers, SMT4, Project X Zone, and just started Ace Attorney Dual Destinies, each game is a lot of fun. For now I liked Luigi's Mansion best, but I enjoyed the rest a lot, and I've still yet to play Rune Factory 4, Etrian Odyssey IV Legend of the Titan or Etrian Odyssey Untold: Millennium Girl, or the new upcoming Legend of Zelda: Link Between Worlds, but those are all next on my list.

I know Fire Emblem Awakening gets a lot of crazy hype to it, and it's not that it isn't good, some part of me thinks its overrated though, I mean there's like 20-some stages and a handful of side stages and after you've grinded on them a few times each it gets pretty boring. I like the battle system, the battle animations are cool, the game is challenging, but having to grind the same stages over again and not having more fresh things to do except advance on the main story was a disappointment, I think the game wanted to force DLC and that bugged me.

I have played 2 handheld games from this year.

FE:A and Pokemon Y.

Fire Emblem: Awakening while good, had repetitive missions and felt in some ways watered down from previous FEs. Pokemon Y on the other hand is the best non-remake Pokemon game I have played since Gold/Silver. So Pokemon Y is my answer.

I've sadly only bought one this year: Walking Dead (PSV) so that wins by default for me. I have plans to buy Killzone (PSV) later on.

Fire Emblem. Easily. What a great f***ing game.

Shin Megami Tensei IV. I don't have too many handheld heavy hitters left to play from this year now that I finished Mehzone Mehcernaries, but the few handheld exclusives that are left are:

Steamworld Dig

Mario and Luigi Dream Team

Some Vita fighters

Rune Factory 4

and not much else

I would say Pokemon, but Fire Emblem kinda beat it.
Pokemon was great till post-game, after that it suffered Black-syndrome which is: fight previous people once a day and that's it. The fact that there are only three legendaries to capture and a low amount of new pokemon kind of killed replay value. I don't feel like catching older pokemon as well, as I've trained them super well in Black.
