I just saw this video for STALKER which was used as a viral ad campaign and had spread across the internet. People thought the footage was real and it actually is extremly creepy take a look.

It worked however. Nobody originally knew it was the STALKER game and some thought it was real.

O.O Gamespot's wide-eyed smiley does not do that vid justice.

Any noteworthy audio (got no speakers on this PC)?

Would be awesome, a little more creature variety would definitely be a good thing for the STALKER series. As much as I love it, it gets a little tiring fighting the same dogs, boars, zombies, snorks, and blood suckers all the time. Luckily the humans make combat interesting.

Not to mention that Pseudogiants took about 300 machine gun rounds in Call of Pripyat. They were way more annoying than the supposedly more dangerous Chimeras.

As for ad campaigns, the Rayman Raving Rabbids series comes to mind. All very enjoyable viral videos.

Yeah well I got lucky in my play through then, I think I only had to fight 1 Pseudogiant, usually the worst that spawned for me at the end of the game was a Controller or two. I also found the Psuedogiant's attacks much easier to avoid than the Chimera's.

STALKER has alot of really messed up videos showing alot of real footage of the Chernobyl disaster which made it all the more disturbing as the damage it has caused and the lives is has taken is very real. I think many people forget The Zone is a real place.

Well, somehow Yanov turned into a mutant zoo after I went into free play mode. And seeing as there are lots of areas without good cover or plateaus, Pseudogiants can be hard to avoid. But seriously, every time I get there and go outside, I encounter heaps of mutants I had barely seen during the story mode. I even had a 'lucky' encounter with a Chimera and a Pseudogiant at the same time. I think there was a Bloodsucker running around as well.

The halo 3 believe ad is the greatest. As somebody who works in advertising, I can tell you that when we all first saw that commercial, we stood up and did a slow clap.

Team Fortress 2. Updates, 'Meet the' videos, and of course the huge amount of user made content; videos based around the game and characters. All of these are essentially marketing the game well after launch. Halo 3 deserves a mention, as does GTA IV as far as massive marketing campaigns go.

I think the Halo games have had great cinema style ads this gen, and I also enjoyed the Assassin's Creed Lineage and Alan Wake prequel films a LOT. As far as straight up ads go, I also really loved the 3D Dot Game Heroes ads... especially the one where they were like "Your parents help you put it together."

The real www.ilovebees.com doesn't exist anymore, but it was a good bit of viral marketing. Another good one was Valve's update to Portal that brought the new radio transmissions. Try to wrap your head around this one, I'm still not 100% sure what its for :P

Hmm, i meant this one. It's just cute, nothing fantastic or anything.
I also know one from a store that i like, but it isn't an ad from a gaming company so i guess it don't count.
