Baulder's Gate 1 and 2, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights are all getting rereleased on modern consoles.

These will be the Enhanced Editions of the games, complete with all DLC and expansions, plus some new content bridging the BG games, and online play for NWN.

The PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch will have three physical, stand-alone versions of the game in addition to digital versions. They're expected to retail at $49.99/each.

September 24th (27th elsewhere) - Baulder's Gate and Planescape releases

December 3rd (6th elsewhere) - Neverwinter Nights releases

I just...I want it all! Lol.

I have actually never played any of these Dungeons & Dragons-licensed PC RPGs before. Back in the day my family computer was just never good enough for it. And it's pretty ironic, considering I love games like this.

Wondering how it would all translate over to the console, but I assume it would work well enough.

The cost of all of these games sounds insane. And I'm not sure what the proper order is to play them in, though I'd assume it's Baulders > Planescape > Neverwinter.

What does everyone else think?

Well that is interesting. Like you, I did not play them when they released due to having a potato for a computer. The price seems a bit high and the lack of Icewind Dale 2 kinda sucks, but I may pick these up at some point.

I imagine it will control much like Divinity Original Sin on consoles which I really enjoyed.

Thanks for the info, I had no idea this was happening.

That's way too expensive. You can get these for a fraction of the price on PC. This isn't a Master Race thing - I'm just saying that's flat out unfair.

That being said, these games are amazing. IMO there's no order - BG, Planescape, Neverwinter have nothing to do with each other other than the shared universe. BG is more combat and traditional Western high fantasy. Planescape is almost a ridiculously weird branching book set in a much more alien landscape - with some combat (FYI, it suddenly and to its detriment becomes almost all combat towards the end, although it does make sense for the story). Very different games, although the general design is of course quite similar

Awesome games. Not sure how they'll turn out on consoles, unless you hook up keyboard and mouse. Switch is probably better started off. That price is horrible though. I have purchased some games more than once for other platforms. Baldur's Gate I and II and Planescape are some of my favourite games. I would NOT purchase them again at that price.

I would just buy them on PC for $5-$10 ea. They are asking way too much for such old games.

It's not like you need a monster PC to play them, either. A regular, cheap high school/college kid laptop can play these games.

I recently played through Divine Divinity on a road trip on a MS Surface 3 (non pro) with an Intel Atom processor and Intel HD graphics, and that game came out 5 years after Baldur's Gate so I imagine they are at least comparable. It was more than sufficient.

That's a high cost for games that I already have 3-4 copies of...

...but hey, those Switch cases are really cool. I think I'll buy them. Planescape alone is worth the money, and the others will be neat to have (even if NWN was a bit crap).

I have Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2 as well as Icewind Dale for PC still and loved those games but I’m definitely going to get those again for the Xbox One at least and perhaps the Switch as well.

Lol 50 bucks each is beyond ridiculous! Great games without a doubt, and planescape torment is probably the best rpg ever released, but think you can get the enhanced version for like 10 bucks on steam... think they were 20 at released so no idea where the 50$ price tag comes from...

Price is an awful scam, plus these games will not appeal to console gamers.

Yeah it is expensive, but tempting anyway. At least picking up BG might be worth it, idk.

I'll keep it in mind anyway. It might be a later purchase for me.

NWN was kinda bad.

Not sure how well these games will transfer over to controllers. May feel kinda clunky.

If they have touch controls for the Switch version, that could work (ala Civ VI). But really, I'm not sure how those games would work on console via controllers, there was a reason Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance existed.

I might be tempted if you got all 5 for $50 but I really can’t in good conscience pay that much for only 2 or 1 in NWN’s case. Sad because I’d be all over those otherwise.

And nintendoboy16, the controls would work like Pillars of Eternity. It’s obviously not as easy or intuitive as M/KB but it works just fine.

It'd almost be cheaper to get an old-ass laptop and buy them on GoG

*Holy hell, they want 300+ dollars for a Switch?

NWN was my first DnD game, I personally loved it. Great mod support for it.

But yeah, a lot of other, better DnD games out there as well.

As long as the interface is suited for handheld play on the Switch, I'm definitely buying these. Well, probably not Neverwinter Nights because the entire draw there was the construction set. The single player campaign was pretty much crap.

A good game is a good game no matter how old it is. And seeing how the Planescape/Icewind and Baulders Gate bundles contain two games, you're actually getting them for half the price you would have paid for them new, and with hundreds of hours of gameplay, that's a hell of a deal.

It’s really great to see these games being released again, and the idea of kicking back on the sofa and playing them on the big screen is very appealing.

I would have definitely preferred to have had Icewind Dale 2 over Neverwinter Nights though. It’s 3rd Edition rules like NWN but runs the same infinity engine as the other games. IWD2 is a much better game then NWN.

The fact that these are 150 dollars for the full package is basically a joke, the Steam releases for all of these only comes out to 100 (and even that assumes they aren't on sale which Steam has much more of than Nintendo).

They're good games and I'd recommend anyone play them, but seriously, if you even have a potato clock for a PC, just pick them up there.

What's with the spelling? It's Baldur's Gate. Everyone knows it is.

Anyway you can buy these games for next to nowt on PC, the best place to play them. BG2 should be tried by any fan of good adventures.

@pyro1245: I dunno. The PC EE supports a one-touch tablet-type interface. I could goof around with that and let you know.
