Story mode is out and it's really interesting so far still a act 3 though urien and juri are amazing can't wait for them to get released ?.
It's a sad reflection of modern gaming when someone can get excited about a developer releasing a "story mode" after a game's release and teasing characters it has yet to release... almost 5 month post release.
Bro it's a fighting game lol.
Fighting games having a thorough story mode is not only incredibly rare, but it's also a product of modern gaming. This isn't something that older fighting games used to have. The Street Fighter franchise NEVER had a story mode, didn't stop those games from being some of the best in the genre. Mortal Kombat 9 was the first game to pull it off in full capacity.
Beyond that, story mode is nothing more than a diversion for these kinds of games. These are 1v1 games that net you hundreds if not thousands of hours of play over the course of years. So what if they don't have a story mode that might give you a day or two of watered down entertainment compared to what the game truly has to offer? I'm not even going to play the story mode, it's a waste of time. I honestly wish Capcom would put those resources towards things that actually matter.
A story mode in the fighting game genre makes about as much sense as having a story mode in a racing sim. Imagine how worthless it would be if they tried to graft some silly story into Gran Turismo or Forza haha.
And characters, really? The game launched with 16 incredibly varied and balanced characters. That's excellent and as for the balance part, it's almost unheard of. Rarely can a fighting game stake that claim.
Releasing characters through monthly updates is not a bad thing either, quite the opposite, it's great! I think you're just confused about this aspect. Back in the day when we got roster updates we had to go out and buy a new game. It was this way for Street Fighter as it was for Mortal Kombat as well.
Now we get a steady stream of balanced characters that we can buy with currency earned in game, or pay real money if you're the impatient type... what's not to like about that?

Seriously, the hyperbole of negativity surrounding SFV is just hilarious at this point. It's an excellent game, easily one of the best fighting games ever. Should they have made some concessions for the modern casual player? Sure, and they've learned their lesson, they're working towards that. But for the rest of us who are actually into the genre, the game has been excellent for months now.
This situation is more of a sad reflection of the modern gamer, not modern gaming.
